My bet is that he took the animal out while defrosting the food. My pythons go all alert during that time period.
Anyhow the good thing is that no revenge seems to have been taken, as what often happens in stories like this.

Fuscus, sounds like a typical feeding bite. The trouble is a feeding bite from a monster Burmese could be a tad dangerous, specially if you home by yourself. The boy was lucky people were home with him, otherwise it may have been a different story indeed.

when it says "he was not serously hurt" are they talking abouthe snake ot the boy :?

y didn't he just go and put his arm in a bathtub full of cold water?

then how about bashing it with a rock? if i was gunna lose an arm i would atleast try that. :?

well......there ya go!

it works with alot of animals.......dogs, cats, mice, pythons, brothers and sisters (lol)
not aquatic ones though...so if you get chewed on buy a croc.....don't get into water!!!!!

While not having experenced it, I'm sure that if I receive a feeding bite from a large burmese I would want it off asap. While many methods come to mind ( rocks, chainsaws, acid ), I would also have concern for the welfare for the animal. And I am sure that any method to force the animal off would cause it some stress. So, IMHO, the fire extingisher doesn't seem to be a bad method, it got the animal off quickly. And notice that they said they fed it after the incident so the animal couldn't have been too stressed

LOL that is why I am using hook before I put my hand in. I know that I am chicken, but I do not like to be biten to often. Specially not by the big girls.

Fuscus, rocks, chainsaws, acid, what are you thinking man. You are really going to get it angry if you use those item. Have you ever seen a angry Burmese. WOW

Just a sample of my twisted humor, perhaps I should have put some smilies in my post. If I was really confronted with that situation and the human was not in immidenate and moral danger, I would use the gentlest method possible.
always.

Fuscus,

Perhaps I should have used smiles with my post too. I will try and make up for my mistake. :D :D :D :D :D :D   :D :D :D

I remeber reading about this incident in a post made by Dr. Owens, a breeder and moderator for the Bob Clark forums. He was concerned about the reprocussions of this even. I guess it happened just down the street from him.

Stuff like this really p*sses me off. When some has a giant python, they should know basic saftey proceedures. The Kid should have run the snake under warm water, or had a vinigar or alcohol spray in the room. People should also know how to feed these things. And what the hell is a kid doing with a Burm anyway? One persons stupidity leads to equally stupid laws effecting us all.

Fuscus,

Why do you get to keep the sinker????? I want it back as well. Its my only one and I will need it for the next person

I wonder how many adults would be able to get a 140pound(64kg) 15ft python out of the enclosure and in to the sink or bath by themselves, let alone while being attacked, let alone a teenager!!!!:)
