In a house of herps - and loving it!
I just came home and my I found Boyd eggs in the corner of the viv I havent touched them yet - I started up the incubator but what temp do I need it at and what can I use as substrate in containers? I don't have and vermiculite (spelling)

coco peat?? anything like that i would think since it holds the moisture without being overly wet gl are u in qld??

I know I have to mark the tops of the eggs not to disturb the embryo but all the pics I have seen the eggs are pushed into the vermiculite how 'secure' do you make them - and will yupperware containers be ok or would I use the washed out ones from the crickets where they have a heap of holes in the lid?

yea i woud think so once again its the same kind of thing in that its easy to place the egs in and will hold the moistre without being wet if you know waht i mean im useing coco peat in my lay box but have some vermiculite stashed in the shed in my wait for eggs lol.
can you keep boyds on a class 1 license in qld curious as there beautiful lizzards

yeah I just have my recreational licence 0 they are georgous! but I heard someone say they look like they have swallowed a golf ball when they're gravid but she didn't look that big I've only had this trio a couple of months : p I'm so exited but sooo nervous I'm going to stuff it up

heheheehe well if u stuff it up put it down to experience if there young and 1st timers could even be alot of unfertile eggs ect 1st time breeding my pygmys aswell :p

i will have a look into boyds got a big list for next yr haha glad i just got anew job to pay fore em all lol

not sure for boyds but was told for my pygmys to just use the old cricket/roach containers with the lids on since they have holes i woudl say yes keeps the humidity up i would imagine

They're about 3 now and the guy I bought them from said they have had viable clutches before so fingers crossed...I didn't have breeding in mind I just figure if I provide the right environment nature will do it's thing and being new to Boyds I'm pretty stoked as I must be doing something right : p Good luck with your pygmy's and if you end up with Boyds in the future you won't be dissapointed they are my fave (but don't tell the other herps lol)

that they do! I love misting them in the morning although they can't communicate you can tell they enjoy it and they were really flighty at first but are settling for me now they will move around with me where I mist to drink off leaves even though they have their massive waterfall ;p

just leave em be hun peat moss is fine had a bit of a look round :p sphagnium moss can be used to
grats on the 5 iv been waiting forever for my girl to drop some eggs lol will have my incubator built and finished on mon so hopeing she holds off till then
