Just payed 30 bucks for 3 rats! im sick of pet shop prices and was wondering if their are any breeders in the caboolture district will go to brissy but would profer not to. Just annoys me how rich the pet shops sell them for, im only an apprentice mechanic so i dont make much money its killin me.

but yea any help would be good.

cheers

$10 a rat isnt bad for pet shop prices...

i have a number of snakes that eat jumbo rats, and at $18 and upwards each it become expensive, especially when they eat 2 at a time..
I breed my own rats now to keep up with this

My Daughter and I are busy breeding rats for sale. As we have not long started it takes a bit to grow the larger size but we are getting there. While I am waiting for them to grow I feed a variety of things. EG chickens, Guineapigs, and multipul smaller rats. So if you can be patient, I think every one is in the same boat.

Breeding your own does take time to grow them up not to mention room and work. But it does work out cheaper in the long run if you keep several snakes. There are a few rat breeders around but Solar 17 is on your side of town. I have trouble keeping up with fuzzy rats especially at the moment due to the heat of late. Where are you located Lianne?

You may even find it very rewarding and a new addiction if you do start breeding own rats. Keep in mind they can be amazingly loving, smart cookies and instead of just 'making food', you could be adopting more pets lol
Ive met many feeder breeders who have fallen inlove with the dinner, if you have the time, motivation and enjoyment from it, I dont see why you couldnt enjoy both. But it does come down to very basic question of how youd cope with killing. If its way too disturbing, its better to stick to frozen that others have bred.

Have you seen the price of bananas lately? It might be worth growing them!

We are in Gympie but come to Brissy now and again. So delivering may not be much of a problem. We sell pets as well as frozen as we have many colours. So if you want to stock your freezer let me know.
