Hey all!

Went to the pet shop the other day and was told that ivermectin [worming stuff] was dangerous and shouldn't b used if they are being used as animal food. What would the alternatives be, and if theres any other important information i'd need to know before i jumped in blind?

Any help appreciated greatly

praziquantel, oxfendazole and fenbendazole are fine at correct doses for your pets and their food as far as i am aware. i use both avian worm out gel and panacur drench which contain these.
ivermectin apparently causes health issues when given to some reptiles directly, therefore i would definately avoid it.

wouldn't worming feeder rats be a no no anyway. Due to the frequency at which they get fed could lead to accidental over does over a pro-longed period?? Unlikely yes, but isn't simply worming your snake the more logical option?

You make a good point i was just wondering cause i was told at the pet shop that i couldnt buy their rats because thats what they used for their rats
