Hi
Just wondering what everyones thoughts are on how often to let your rats have litters ?

How long should there be between having them and getting jumped by the male again?

The main reason i ask is i only want fuzzies to weiner size atm and would like to get some stock buildup for summer months .

Y not just let them ahhem all they want. shouldn't they know when they "need to try a new possition?"

As soon as the litter is weaned, whack the male in with the female again. Buggger resting them. Get as many litters out of them as you can.

That reminds me of an old joke:

A first time father was nervously waiting in the waiting room while his missus was in labour. He started talking to another fella there who seemed quite calm. He asked him was this his first child and the fella said ,"No it's my 6th" . " Your 6th?" said the first bloke. "Tell me" he said. "How long after a Woman has a baby can you have sex with her again?"...."Well it depends" says the experienced father. "It depends on what?" says the other fella. "It depends on whether she's in a private room or a public ward."

Yup, as soon as you have culled or weaned the babies, put her back in the breeding tub. Unless she is obviously underweight, then either rest her or cull her.

Nice joke greg. although it wouldn't b the cleanest root the guy would of had.

As often as they'll have them.

As soon as they feel like it (I wouldn't bother separating the sexes at any stage).

This is what I did when I was breeding my own rats anyway. I see no point holding back.
