hi i know you have already read a millon posts like this so im sure ill get bad feedback but imo i like to ask in real time so i can ask the question i need to know not what other people have asked and have nothing to do with what i want to know.

aaaany way. i want to breed rats for food for my two pythons firstly then maybe go bigger.

i have two diamonds that are feeding on fuzzes and soon moving onto weaners of what ever is next !!.

from your exeriance will one female keep up enough to feed my two pythons ???
also as for a breeding box is there an easy cheap way to build one??

also when it comes to doing the deed what its the best most humane and legal way to kill the babys??

also is inbreeding rats a bad idea or should i get some other blood lines down the track when i want to go larger. ???

is there a way to pic your best breeder of do i just wait until there first litter??
thanks for your time and patience

I started off with two females and one male (BIG albino fella). I now have 5 females to one male as I have 4 snakes to feed. My average litter size is 11-12. I now have more rats in the freezer than I know what to do with. I have one big plastic tub that I made into a cage, I use it to grow the pups out in. My male and one female are in a large commercial tub ($70ish) and the other females are in smaller commerical tubs ($40ish) I need buy another commerical tub to keep the male in seperate to stop the breeding for a bit. At the moment I just rotate the females through my males tub and that seems to work alright so far.

As to killing the pups.......do a search on this site and read what other people say. That topic has been done to death. I'm not going to tell how I do it as next thing you know there will be some expert/bleeding heart having a go at me, and then I'll get all worked up and bite back and it will just go down hill from there. Kinda like all the posts on that subject so far.

Now the inbreeding thing. My male is breeding with his daughters. The pups are just fine and it really doesn't matter to much as you are just going to kill them anyway. So what if a pup comes out with two heads and five arms, thats just more for the snake to eat.

i started off with 2 females and a male aswell.....

you will need to increase the number of females as your snakes grow because it takes longer to grow the pups up as the snakes need bigger feeds

thanks for your reply i will get another female out of this batch tanks for your help

i have only been breeding mice and i can never keep up my diamond wont touch them ive tried every thing i dont know why this only just come to me now but i should do rats as well after 2 years u would think i would remember hes not the only one i dont want my other snakes to out like him when i have to give him 8 mice in a row

I have 45 female and 10 male that breed around 250 a month which is just right for me they take 6-8 weeks to get to 150g
