They look good king sirloin. I can't see you pictures borntob. Those two aircraft would be crazy to fly albs, be very impressive to watch.

I have a Blade 400 and love it. Spend the hours learning how to hover in a garage or large enclosed area (no wind) before you start going for it outside. I would recommend you learn how to hover firstly with the tail towards you then front on. Make sure you have a set of training wheels. Learn how to use your remote settings as you can set them up so at full power it will only barely lift off the ground.

Phoinex sim or Real flight are the best sims to get. I used to fly helis but I have always flown r/c planes. My main interest now is competing in large scale aerobatics. The model below is 42% scale and is powered by a 3w 170cc twin cylinder engine. The heli was a 50 size Gohbee Stinger with a os 50 hyper motor and hatori tuned pipe. I had this one custom airbrushed. Bit of time on the sim and buy quality gear and it is very rewarding.

Until u stuff up flying inverted too low to the ground with a heli and it starts doing the funky chicken. Then u just see $$$ being spat in every direction. Agree with quality gear, some of the cheaper stuff just has massive amounts of slop in the swash plate area which makes it difficult to control. Along with crappy servos and gyro. I bought cheap radio servos gyro with my trex. Then spent another 3 x that to get quality and found it soo much easier to fly

Regarding setup, i found u need to have negative pitch if flying outside, when it gets a slight breeze it can be a bitch to land otherwise as the blades will be producing more lift with the wind

i found i struggled more with the training legs than i did once removed. They seemed to upset the heli more

I had one, only flew 2m high....boring! so I bought a big one!!!! It flew about 20m high and my brother crashed on a cement cricket pitch:facepalm:
good fun though

haha gold, just gold.

I found this too, the training gear does 'alter' the flying characteristics a little but it will still avoid the funky chicken dance a little longer.

Does anyone particularly recommend either Phoenix or Real Flight over one or the other? I downloaded a demo of one, now I'm interested!

I had a little cheapie one, had a blast with it for about 2 weeks, then one of the dogs decided he'd stand up to his fears, now it doesn't fly right because one of the blades has teeth marks in it.

My dog loves my little red coaxial. If I'm too lazy to go out for a walk, I'll start it up and he'll chase it all over the house, snapping, snarling and jumping at it 'till the batteries run out. I gotta get one with a camera!

Took the blade 130X out for another successful flight today. So satisfying when you bring it home in one piece.

I have decided to do the smart thing and pay my car rego of before i buy a helicopter. I will now be getting a blade 450 from my local hobby shop in the next two weeks.

I fly 450 sized helicopters. If you're getting into it my advice would be to get a simulator, as you've mentioned, it will save you more money than it costs and will lead to less despair. Depending on your budget you may also want to get a decent programmable radio, if you find the hobby is not for you you can always sell it on later, they make a huge difference (in my experience at least).

Here is an old pic of one of my T-Rex clones. In general I've had better experiences with the brand name stuff over the cheap generics but Copter X is alright for the money.

A lot of the main reasons why i choose to increase my budget for it and get the better heli are basically the blade 450 comes stock with the dxi6 controller and is very easy for me to get parts to fix it when it crashes.

Hi baker, just wondering how the flying is going, and if you ended up getting the 450.

I just bought a new DX8, still waiting for it to charge.......started it a day or so ago. Been flogging my 130X too, flying - charging - flying - charging..... and can now hover it inside amongst the furniture.

If I have another serious crash with the Blade 400, I might call it a day and upgrade to a newer model. Getting harder to get parts at the local hobby shop for older models and have to browse several suppliers online if I want to put together an order.

Hey. No flying yet for me just ordered the 450 at the store today and now have to wait one week for my next pay to go and get it. I'am really looking forward to giving it a go and see what's going to happen. When I get it I'am going to program a very forgiving low pitch and throttle curve set up to make it a little easier to learn on.

From what I have been reading on the 450 is that a lot the parts are interchangeable between 400's and 450's. Not sure how true it is but it could be something to look into.

The parts thing is one of the reasons I decided to save a bit more money up to get a higher end model. Last thing I wanted was to get a cheaper one then not be able to get parts in for it.

Excellent idea getting a well known heli for the availability of parts. And yes a lot of them are interchangeable. I just put a 450 landing skid on the 400, went straight on, no mods!

The only problem I've found now is no settings to put the 400 and older helis into the DX8 and I don't know enough about the settings to do it myself. I'll try subsituting the 450 3D settings, as it also has a flybar and see what happens.

Flew the 130X with the DX8 and.....wow! I didn't know a transmitter could make so much difference. It was just so much more stable than with the DX6i and I havn't even used beginner settings yet.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the 450 when you get it.

Cheers.

Just bought another heli! I got a little Blade mSR X. Perfect for practicing reflex indoors and more fun than the simulator.....except for battery charging. It's hardy too, crash it, pick it up and fly again.

Well I finally got my blade 450 after having to wait an extra ten days for it to arrive. Came in quite a nice package and looked good straight out of the box. It was not trimmed correctly out of the box during my first attempts at flying and it ended up into the ground on me after owning it for a little aver half an hour. Just finished replacing the parts on it so now I just have to wait for a quite day to try it out again. I wil let you know what its like for me being a beginner after my next flight.
Cheers Cameron

YAYYY! AND RC HELI FOR CHRISSY!! YAY!! *Starts flying it* MUMMMM THIS IS HARDD *Crashes, and then cries for the rest of christmas day*
