hi all,
ok on just learning of so sort fo toilet training with pythons, is there anything else out the that i would like to know.

as in (i dont know) but maby Monitors that that will walk besides you if you put the in a dog harnes thing. i know this may sound dumb but i only found out to day about toilet training. i mean anything even a different sort of hand feeding snakes from the palm of your hand.

anything will do.

thanks
ashley

You can hand feed smaller lizards provided you did it from very early on, but i wouldnt try it with a monitor unless you just kind of dropped the food into its mouth. I dont think you could train a monitor to walk beside you, but you can train beardies to run up your arm to your shoulder for food!
Not alot you can that way with a snake though.
Turtles do have some capacity to learn (pavlovian response) they can be taught to retreive food from land (basking area) although they will take it to the water to feed. :D

I have 3 blue tongue lizards thats about 46cm long and I do handfeed them sometimes and they never tried to bite me as yet

When I had Beardies they all took food from my fingers, no problem.
I'm not even going to try with my pythons.

We hand feed our Blue Tonge, he prefers it. And our recently deceased Childrens would just gently take a mouse out of hubby's hand then wrap and eat like normal.

I did hand feed my coastal (8.5 ft) once, holding rattus terminus by the tail (very tip of the tail lol) had to shut my eyes though, nearly had a bloody heart attack when he took it!
Always fed with tongs after that!

I have actually heard of someone that has a Lacey that can be walked like a dog. I havent seen it myself but I would not dismiss the idea completely.

I think i once saw a Lizard leash, though i can't b sure. it was in NSW at a lil shop there.

Wow Greebs, ya never know, they seem to sit placid enough over your shoulder like a small child. be intresting to see the public reaction to leash walking a monitor!

i offer my snakes food by hand sometime, but latly my carpet pythons been alittle cheeky and goes for the wrist instead

I saw one on eBay a few weeks ago. I think it was advertised as a reptile lead. I can't remember how much they wanted for it.

Cheers,
Wombat.

I have always fed my snakes by hand. One is a juvie childreni and the other a yearling diamond (1mtr long) and to this day, I have never ever been bitten. Not by my snakes or dragons....

I love to go the feed by the hand!!! in the right circumstance (such as having the right angle to do so) you can get the massive attack without having to worry about the bandaids :D Go the hand feeding PUSSIES!!!
