I have an evil Water python that still manages to get my hand even when I use tongs. I just open the door and toss the rat in now.

Seriously, dont close your eyes, thats when you get bitten, i have a 30cm murray who sits on my hand quite happily while he downs a weaner rat. My Vitties take food from my fingers no problem, i dont use tongs, i have a pair, i think ive used it twice... ive only ever been rat rolled twice, and both times it was because i couldnt see what i was doing properly. My beardies are "trained" i guess you would call it, to not go to the toilet until i put there toilet bowl in half filled with water, they go in that, stink the whole cage out and i remove it, they wont go on the newspaper, only in the water bowl, and only in that water bowl, i couldnt find theres one day and they wouldnt go in the alternative, i had to hunt around till i found theirs, i think its the shape of in, low and long. I havent bothered to toilet train my pythons, they go on the newspaper, i throw the newspaper away, it only happens once a week and the paper needs changing anyway, i only get the crazies if they go in there hides as it is a biatch to clean. The other thing my beardies do is play sdead, the babies that is, i think its a defensive thing, when i put them back in the cage, they come back to life, its a miracle. The adults dont do it for me anymore unless the dog is around, the play dead, wait till he comes over to check it out, then they chase him around the house for 5 mins till tired... hahaha, its the funniest thing, they are quicker than him too so he has to bounce off walls. He is a chihuahua by the way.

LMAO

All my snakes are toilet trained. I feed them and like magic the crap on the bottom of the enclosure a few days later. And on the branch, and the hide box and in the corner and on the light fitting?(how?)

Spencers monitors are known to be able to be harness trained to walk. Here is a pic of one (not my pic so hope owner of pic isnt upset)

"You can train all your monitors/lizards to feed from your hand, the smaller monitors are quite amusing in their behaviour, some will do all sorts of mad things in their quest for food, i start them on the forceps, then as they relax and become use to my hand being near them while eating, i start feeding from my hand.......The larger monitors i only feed from forceps so they associate them with food rather than my hands or feet!!!, the bite can be quite nasty!!!!....I have seen a Lacey that would walk around the house as if he was the owner, and often had to be kicked off the couch in front of the T.V., they had no cats, poodles or small children..."

"No not really, mate, i was told the other day there selling for as little as $400, small price to pay, i'd almost have to say my favourite,of the big goannas.....If your considering getting one, make sure your sorted with a good cage and decient food supply....plenty of info around on set-ups, cheak some sites out"
