Hello
I bought my first snake on Wednesday, a male Coastal Carpet Python, that hatched in December

I was told that he last ate the day before (so on Tuesday) and he is feeding on pinkies

I have only handled him once, which was when I was buying him, so that is the only time since he has been handled
(I know you have to give them a week to settle, and 2 days after feeding until you can handle them)

But I just came across this in his enclosure

And was wondering if this is a bad sign and something to be concerned about?
Or could he just still be stressed about the move?

What are some signs of a stressed snake?

Should I leave it in there, and he might eat it later or what?

Any help on the matter please, Since hes my first snake, I just wanna be absolute sure that theres nothing bad going on

Also, is he like other pets that I have to show where hes water dish is? or will he figure it out on hes own? (lol, silly question)

the heat mat is usually at 32, but on the rare occasion it gets to 38, in which case I unplug it until it drops back down
(I am always home, so I am able to monitor this very carefully) and I am definitely getting a proper thermostat tomorrow
And the other side of the enclosure is around 20-25

My first thought was he was stressed from the move
2nd thought was that he did it when it got a bit too hot for him

He spends 90% of the day in hes hides

Take it out straight away. Not only will he not eat it but it will smell really bad.

Did you do research before buying your first snake? Did the person you bought it off supply you with a care sheet?

Ok before people get on here and scream OPMV or something bad like that i thought i would get in. A stressed snake can regurgitate food but it is usally more to do with temperature or another surrounding factor. Some more details like enclosure size, heat source, thermostat etc would be great.

Remove the food item, and wait a full week before feeding or handling. He will find his water dish on his own.

It could have easily just been stressed from the transportation and the resulting change of temps during transit. I'm sure all is fine.

As spottedpython asked above, what temps are in the enclosure?

I did do research, I researched for about 3-4 months before buying him
And no care sheet, but did sit me down and told me all the basics about keeping him, and said I could call up any time with questions.

And the thermostat will be coming first thing in the morning off my mate thats a sparky, so no-one get alarmed
I'm gonna stay up all night to monitor everything as well

and temps are around 20-25 cool end
32 hot end, but sometimes get to 38, in which case I unplug it to drop it back down...deffs don't want a cooked snake

I thought I did have a thermostat, but it turned out to be a digital thermometer (my bad) but by then it was all too late (my bad again)
So I'm getting it in the morning off my sparky mate, before he goes to work.

Actually just message him then to see if hes awake and if I could get it now quickly

Thanks for the help guys

He ate the day before you bought him? You should avoid handling snakes for a few days at least after they have eaten because this is what is a 98% chance thing they can do. I reckon all the stress of being moved with a full belly is probably what caused him to regurge. Doesn't mean there is anything wrong with him except he was upset. Let him settle now, get his heat right and just continue on feeding him each week.

No you won't have to show him where he water is. He can smell it, so will find it just fine, on his own.

Just out of interest - doesn't look like a pinky to me... a larger than normal meal is always more likely to be regurgitated under stress than a small meal...
