WIRES metro 8977 3333 and ask about dates for the basic training course, then come spring time you can do the reptile course. Usually the state reptile team does a couple metro and a couple of country venues per year.

I contacted WIRES today Pete. Just to prove a point. Currently they have 588 members in Sydney and when the Northern Beaches Basic Training Course is completed shortly there will be just over 600 members.
They had no reason to inflate these figures at all Pete. It's all on the up and up.

What kind of animals do you get most Greg? Are you doing herps in particular?

I'm only a newbie at it myself. I'll be doing the required Reptile courses as they come up. Having only done the basic course so far it's only birds and general stuff like that can be rescued and cared for. You have to do specialised courses for Reptiles, Raptors, Macropods, Flying Fox and Microbats and the like.

Sounds cool. how much do these courses cost? how many terms per course? where are they normally held? soz all q's.

Good on you Greggles
Its nice having you on the goodie's side!

Instar, it depends which area in Sydney you are. When I did reptile wildlife rescue for my branch we mainly were getting Diamonds, red bellies, tigers, eastern browns, Swampies, blue tongues, water dragons, ELN turtles and the odd green tree snake.
