hey all,
i have a male spotted python...and he was...a good little snake, i have started to cool for breeding and now and hes gone super agressive...has this got something to do with him protecting my female??????????

hes got a good set of teeth on him now LOL!!!

cheers,

Luke

ummm.. it is probably because of the female but it could also be because of lack of handeling.. do you handle him often?

yea i handle him heaps...he was snappy as a hatchie, thats why i handled him, and he has been so so so good, never biten stricked etc...until i started to cool him down! i dunno...its werid eh!

Luke

yeh id have to say that the aggression would come from the female.. i mean it would be like a male would fight off another male for the female so it would probably be due to the female.. its probably best not to handel them so much then because this is the mating time for childrens, spotties but seperation would be good for a few days at a time..

ok...just natural then!! (i hope) LOL.
i can't seperate them...i only have corny little hatchie tubs LOL!!! and a 50 x 30 x 20 H click clack...but im useing that for my bredlis when i get them on saturday or sunday!

Luke

lol yeh you hope so ;-).. umm what i would do is take out one snake for as long as you cacn ( i could hold me diamond for ours going) then put them together and see what happens or put it in a spare container for the day ect.. or dont sepertate but make sure you witness them mating cause i dont know what happens when seperation hasnt been done..

yea, i will if i can, but i don't have much space going for her, imo shes a big girl compared to the other! LOL, i would but, the likely hood of me being able to is nil! how big is it?
i haven't seen the spotteds mate for a while but i have seen the childrens mate, and they are hosed together...check out whats been happening, so much easier then wrting it all out: snakediaries.blogspot.com

just make sure hes not stressed from cooling? maybe post up how you are cooling him like wat hours etc and someone experienced can help u out

Luke1 - I wouldn't bother seperating them if you don't usually...I think your animals are far more likely to stress if moved to a new enclosure during this time. They live together all the time - leave them together and see how you go...

Your little fella has hormones pumping through his system at the moment - thats why he's also all over your girl - this is the likely explanation...

arbok: i don't quite get what you mean??? im cooling him with a thermastat (TH......) model. i turn on lights a 8am and turn them off at 3-4pm.

Alsan: LOL, well the childrens must be at a stage where its just abit of fun LOL, they just keep .... yea you know what i mean LOL!!!!
