Hi, has anyone else noticed a few people get banned for 48 hours and suddenly we have reptile threads again, and not overrun with stupid chit chat threads. Isn't it nice for a change. Slatey, it should happen more often.

And for those who noticed I placed this on Chit Chat, hey what can I say but sorry guys.

Funny that eh bigguy,it is a pleasant change for a bit,no crapola all over the place.....i can handle a bit of chit chat and larking around but at times there's more chit chat than herp talk on here and i know i don't have to read it but sometimes if you don't you miss out on some funny $hite

Hey guys, chit chat is what I do best on here! Unless of course you want me throwing my limited, amateur opinions into every discussion. I'd honestly sooner leave it up to guys like you, Brownie and Bigguy etc, for the real hands on info. I'll have a crack at stuff, but generally I'll stick to the Chat threads and avoid the serious discussions, when and if they arise  (and that's due only to my inexperience). That's not to say I don't read other things apart from Chit Chat columns, far from it, I just don't post meaningless rot in serious threads (well, rarely if ever ) Long live the chit chat column!

It's almost a shame Chit Chat wasn't completely serparate, in it's own scrolling column (Just an idea) It would be good if it didn't interfere at all with the top 15 posts, but unfortunately it does. At least then if it was entirely separate area, anyone who even dares to type rot into serious discussions may suffer the consequences of possible suspension, or worse.

I enjoy the site and check it out almost daily, I've gotten to know some of the members on here pretty well and I find it a good way to unwind a little. I can see your points and I agree at times it can be more of a social site than anything else

PS: I know you're not talking about me anyway......I think  I just thought I'd post some thoughts :D

I,m with you Moose. Due to my limited knowledge I tend to try to just sit back and learn in the more serious threds and if there is ever a minute chance that I might be able to offer a small amount of info I jump at the chance.
The problem also at times is peoples reluctance to answer newbys often asked questions. I will always try to search the archive first before I ask, but it isnt that easy to find what your looking for in the archive.
The reallity is that over time probably every question there is to ask has been asked alredy.
Without these repeated questions you have a dead site.
( is anyone going to fully hibernate their diamonds this winter, please answer)
I have found both areas chit chat and serios herps to be very rewarding in different ways.

It might be a useful idea to have a section on this site that covers questions and answers to specific species. For example common questions asked and then have the relevant answers next to it. It would be a long winded task for somebody to set up but I believe it would be a great tool for the inexperienced.

"Well, theres nothing wrong with 'chit-chat', but you have to ammit theres been some total rubbish, chit-chat latly, lets here about 'what how and why' you keep reptiles, your hopes, desires, successes, and failures......you may not have all the answers, even a small collection, but i'm interested, as others would be to hear about it......at least someone will learn something, including myself......"

make a thread with your answer also please tremain im sure it will be a good thread.

I have now Shax but you dont want my advise mate, and I'm sorry for that message in your thred. The initial message ( before I Deleted it) was kinda related to your thred. it was about vitamin reqiuirements for pythons, but then I relised that that might take the thred in a different direction to the one you intended, so I deleted it.
