From what I understand, they make fantastic pets but can give one hell of a bite.

The business operates online at www.lllreptiles.com - I've just spent the last hour browsing their catalogue. For anyone looking for Cogger's "Reptiles ansd Amphibians of Australia", they have some copies for sale - at USD$180.00 !

:p

Albino Beardy $5000 !!!! Folk breed them here? how much? pics?

I'm pretty sure bigguy and splitmore bred some albino beardies a while ago, there was a thread about it and some pics.....you would think that the founding albino of these would be wild caught as they all are!!!

Does anyone have any pics of leucistic beardies?

this really pisses me off, i hate when people artificially manipulate the genetic strain just to make a couple pf dollars.

as if these animals are not beautiful enough in there natural form.

Only in America

Only in America ?? Usually I would agree but you are kidding yourself if you think we don't do it here. The whole subject opens a new can of worms everytime it is debated, some hate it and lots seem to love it. I personally have no problem with playing with genes to 'create' a new colour. The animal certainly doesn't need to suffer in anyway in the process.

It will happen here in less than 10yrs. The albino Darwin will lend itself to many species being cross bred. You will have albino coastals, cape yorks, jungles, diamonds etc etc. Anyone that thinks it won't happen is living in denial and will be sadly disapointed when it does happen.

I personally can't wait to see what colours come through out here. I would also love to see origin species kept as well without being cross bred.

I agree totally, I love the beautiful colours that get created BUT I also appreciate the 'standard' model as well. The 2 aren't mutually exclusive.

There is a couple of albino beardeds offspring that have been bred as far as i know.....i havent seen one in the flesh yet, but the bright orange, almost fluro one that i seen in a collection the other day was incredible.......i wouldnt have believed it had i not seen it....never seen anything like it in the wild anywhere in Oz....whether you agree in odd colour morphs or not it was truly a great looking lizard......
