Neven, just breed more than you need and feed the left over ones to the chooks or local birdlife when you clean the tubs. I find they smell a lot if kept too humid, feeding ornages or other juicy fruit or veg can cause this. Oranges really make them pong.

Nev , just tilt the container leaving an egg carton at the high end, knock the container around a bit so all the crap moves to the low end and after 5 mins or so all the roaches will up the high end amidst the egg carton, just scrape out the crap and you're home and hosed

Another thing I do with the excess roaches is freeze them.

I do this for our turtles. I feed them frozen, just chucking a fist full of frozen SFR's into the pond.

Perth zoo feed their blueys, frillies and bob tails frozen roaches.
Well, defrosted ones anyway.
