So in the past month or so on the gold coast the temperature has gotten noticably cooler. As of two weeks ago one of my rsps stopped eating then a week later the other and last night my youngest rsp refused a feed also. I also keep womas and they all like always never refuse a feed. It got me thinking that i read somewhere that roughies tend to notice a smaller drop in temps more significantly due to them being from the tropics where the heat is more constant all year round. So my question is do you think my roughies thing its getting close to winter and have started "cooling"?
temps in the enclosures have remained constant up until the refusal of food where i lifted the temps slightly to see if that was the problem but at night i turn off heating so the temps would definately drop. Any other thoughts?

i dont understand? yes your snakes have stopped eating because its going into winter. turning the heat off at night will help your older pythons folical growth in females and sperm development in males. your best chances at keeping your snakes eating is keeping 24hr heat + 32 degree hot spot.

the younger one does actually get 24 hour heat, the older two which i plan on breeding are the ones who have their heat turned off at night. But i was hoping to get some more size on my female before i started cooling them...it seems nature has other plans :p

with older snakes most people start cooling late march early April 12 hours on 12 hours off. My female will be getting her last meal tonight. sometimes younger snakes will go off food without heat being turned off this isnt unusual you can try giving it a rat every month or so but it probably wont start eating untill it starts getting warm again.
