I dont know about black "cookies" (sorry, i know its cockies but i could'nt help it!) but i think those Duvenbodes (sp?) lories are pretty special. I'm quite partial to the Australian Eclectus parrots too.
None of these animals are what I'd call "cheap" though. I'm not very big on mutations either. I saw the fallow rainbow mutation at the fairfield bird show. Did'nt impress me, actually i looked away in disgust... it looked very wrong.

Have you seen a black mutation of eastern rozella? I don't know why people even try to breed them or keep them its one ugly looking bird.
Major Mitchells are nice and good priced at the moment. I saw a pair for sale for $450. One day I may think of getting some for myself aswell.

Major Mitchells are great parrots and are on my list if I ever get back into keeping and breeding birds which I am sure I will do in the near future.

On my wish list though is an African Grey Parrot. The smartest parrot money can buy IMO :)

If I can find the photos I had taken of me about 10 yrs ago in frenchmans Bay WA I will post them. It shows me with a Yellow Tail Black Cockatoo that had crash landed from a flock that were flying above. I managed to get it onto a stick and pat it and have my photo taken before releasing it into a tree to regain its strength. :)

A friend of mine breeds all the forms of black cockatoos and they're spectacular animals.Funny with birds though as it seems the mutations with the prettiest colours are worth the most similar to herps in the US and how it will be here eventually one day.

There were White-bellied Caiques at Gunnedah this year - $15k a pair. Those lack rosellas are pretty ugly, and those lutino Rainbows make me want to put on my sunglasses.

I think the stupidest thing I ever heard (about 10 years ago) wasd that someone had developed a dilute Gouldian. Which begs the question: 'Why would you want to dilute a Gouldian?' And in a similar vein, saw some Blue gouldians for sale this year at Nowra - Blue cock and a split blue hen for $550.

:p

Hahahaha! The dilute mutation, next to the red/black/yellow face, is my favourite mutation! I think the yellow backs look awful, but the dilute in a big aviary where it can fly overhead is great! You see the white tail feathers and the white under the wings. I'm also quite partial to the cinnamon yellow star finches. I guess this could well be described as my secret shame! hahahaha

Oh and by the way, Caiques are awesome. If they were slightly better (read: cheaper) priced (ie. Sun Conure prices) I'd definately get a pair!
