semi defrosted rats

so long story short last night some idiot left my freezer open and by the time i woke up the thing was dripping. i checked my rats straight away and the where kinda semi frozen they not rock hard like they normally are but not completely soft. the ice cream in with it was like a maccas soft serve if that gives a better indication of how much defrosting had happened.

so my question is will they be ok to feed to my woma im just not sure its my first snake so yea dont wanna do anything bad that might make it sick.has anyone else had this happen and fed the rats with no problems.

that's a tough one, me personally i'd get new rats. i'd feel better about it.

Its hard to say without physically seeing how defrosted the rats are... but it doesn't sound good too me... and if your in doubt its probably better not to take the risk..

what have you done with them since?

if they were still semi frozen, then there'll be no problems. I wouldn't take risks with my snakes, and I dont think this would be a risk.

Ive had it happen in the past and let them refreeze and used them like normal without issues..

I had the same thing happen to me, but the freezer died. We got to it when the rats were how you're describing.
I didn't bother with refreezing as I wouldn't do this to human food, (and because mum wouldn't let me put them in the 'people' freezer :lol:) so I just fed them to my snakes straight away. Thank god I have some snakes that are garbage guts! haha.
I would feed them to your snake, and whatever is left over, I would throw out. You can never be too cautious.

As long as there not completly fawed out It will be fine dont re freeze the ones you have just feed them to your woma

yea i think ill just throw them dont wanna risk it with my little guy sucks but as i just bought 2 packs at $20 a pop thanks for everyones opinion this site has once again been a help
