Ok so my jungle python started shedding this morning. I went out for a couple of hours and when i came home there where pieces of skin all size and shapes around her enclosure :( and she still has lots of pieces on her that she is trying to get off!

My question is at what point do i intervene and assist with the shed?

warm (not to hot not to cold) water in the laundry sink and put her in to help her get it off, the moisture makes the old skin like a wet bandaid, soggy and much easier to come off.

give her a soak for 15-30mins keep an eye on her then put her in a tub or something with a bunch of wet paper towel scrunched up and put her in there she will move around the wet paper towel and it will hopefully rub off :)

or you can wet a face washer with warm water and let her move through it that will help to remove any skin thats left

After she has soaked for about 20 minutes or so, as BnEGlidz has suggested, get a washer and keep letting her slither through your hands. Wet skin will slip off. Or you can do so with your hands. Pay particular attention to her nostrils and tip of tail. You can gently use your fingernails to peel the skin off her tail. She won't like it but once you put her in her tank, she will settle back down.

For future reference, when you notice she is going into shed, mist her every day with warm water, until end of shed. That will help keep her skin moist so she can get it off easier. And a water bowl that she can lay in also helps them, too.
