G'day folks,
Just wondering how long does it take for a darwin python to shed?
My darwin hasnt sheded in 2 weeks.
The first week was a cloudy colour, then turned back to normal this week
i wonder why?
still now it hasnt sheded
cheers.

Perfectly normal, should go any day now. It seems to vary depending on the individual snake, they're all slightly different.

very true ... my childreni takes anywhere from 12-22 days to shed ... it's normal ... should shed in the next week r 2 ... and ir ur lucky u mite even get to see it shed... i've seen my childreni shed every single time ... haven't seen the jungle shed tho

good luck

i was wondering the same thing. my coastal has gone cloudy and his eyes are completely white, since yesterday... i would have thought it would happen fairly soon .... ?

my coastal's eye went milky for a day or two, then cleared up, then she shed about a week later

Yep skin starts dulling eyes go cloudy then back to normal week or 2 later they will shed

everyone has said to leave him alone while shedding.... is that just while the eyes are milky? or is it for the whole period from now til he sheds?
sorry, this is really basic, but its his first shed with me....

i believe some snakes get cranky when they are shedding. not realising she was so close to shedding, I had mine out to show to some mates who'd dropped around, she was fine...6 hours later she shed! i probably wouldn't have got her out if i'd known she was that close.

hey rox, when i notice my snakes in shed, i just leave em until they have shed, unless there is any cleaning to do to the enclosure, they are best left alone ...

even tho i have picked up my childreni once or twice when he is in shed mode and he does nufin, just hides his head .... it is still best to leave them alone i spose....

Thanks, yeah had to do some clean up this morning.... (he pooped inside his hide -he hasnt done that before...) just kind of gently shoved him down the other end of his enclosure and he wasnt keen on moving, but now that he's out he's loving a nice bask on his rock. i've put an extra jar of water near the heater too to boost the humidity. although he's just draped himself across the top of it... lol. i really need to get him some more stuff to climb on! :D

Thanks for you help, and sorry for stealing the thread! lol

My coastal python is always a bit cranky when her eyes are milky, then they clear and she sheds about a week later. The actual shed can sometimes be quick and clean, but sometimes she takes ages and it gets very tatty. Once she got it stuck half way down, so I actually helped her.... like a girl wriggling out of a tight skirt! She seemed to appreciate it.

Ha ha ha. Very cool.

Yeah i'm looking forward to Lix's first (with me :D).

hope you are able to see it Rox. Everytime my Josephine sheds, she begins by rubbing her nose against her rock or bough - this could be a clue to look for :)

yeah, i watched a vid on you tube of a ball python shedding (gosh they are gorgeous snakes... for some reason they make me think of candy), and the first minute was the snake rubbing her face against the branch to get it started. very cool.
