Was just wondering about how long you should leave your snake to shed before stepping in?

My spotted started to shed but it wasn't coming off in a one piece, it was coming off in lots of lil bits. He hadn't shed like this before so the next day I soaked him in warm water and then later that day the rest had come off.
I assumed he shed like this as I recently moved her from Townsville to Canberra, so she may be a little stressed and the air here (canberra) is ALOT dryer.

I just wanted to know, if this happens again how long should I leave him before soaking him? And has anyone got some tips to prevent this from happening?

Thanks guys

What I do for my Childrens is when I notice the behaviour related to him shedding is with a spray bottle I give him a little squirt in his hide. And all 3 sheds since I have had him are in one piece. Not sure about the helping him shed part sorry.

hey... yeah a spray bottle is a good idea... another thing you can do is move the water bowl directly over or under the heat source to create a greater humidity but also spraying a light mist every now and then helps with the process...
as far as how long you should leave it before soaking... i would just wait until she has completed finished shedding, and if there is still some skin left on her then give her a soak maybe and hour or so after if there is any skin left on...
generally it is nothing to worry about... as long as there are no complete rings of skin left around her body and nothing around the head or neck...
hope this helps...
