shelf?

Hi all, I have my ackies in a 4ft tank. I am wanting to put a shelf in to add a second level (also closer to basking lamp) my question is how best to finish the front edge of the shelf?

Tank is melamine and the shelf will be the same but how should I finish the cut edge and also hold on the substrate?

You can get some timber edging something small and match the timber on the outside of your enclosure to tie it all together. Hope this helps

Get some skirting or architrave and attach it to the cut edge, if you get something wider than the melamine you can have it flush at the bottom and sticking up higher at the top which will give you a barrier for whatever substrate you choose, kind of like a bowl if that makes it easier to understand.
