Hi guys, i have had my female MD For 2 months now, recently found she has motes, don't know whether she come from the shop with them or has recently caught them, anyways i have treated her enclosure as advised by many people, and mites have all but disappeared. Today was the last spray in her 3 week treatment, i noticed tonight she has developed a sneeze and is also breathing heavy, i did give her a bath tonight just as part of the treatment. Could she have a cold, or just a blocked airway of some sort?
Asking her is one of my only options as our local vets dont treat reptiles from what i know..
Thanks in advance.
Paul

I'm no expert but from what I've read on here aside from RI, another two possibilities would be a ) there's a piece of retained shed around her nose which is causing difficulties breathing or irritation or b ) she may have a but of substrate caught in her nose. What substrate do you use? There is just two possibilities, I'm sure people with more experience may have more ideas :)

I'm not sure what it could be besides what's already mentioned.
Very rarely do my MDs or Jungle breathe heavily and when they do it doesn't last for long at all.
Girl MD has at times when she's got stuck (has a habit of trying to come out/get back in her enclosure the wrong way). But that's about it.
Could be stress related too maybe?
My Jungle got a bit heavy with the breathing today when I got it out to clean it's cage... But as soon as it went back in the noise went away.
Which is odd. Normally I get a hiss to warn me to bugger off/I'm not in the mood.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

She has no substrate in there at the moment, had to turf it for mite treatment.. Could be stress related possibyl, she had a shed 4 weeks ago so she could be coming up for a shed again... Ill monitor her over the next few days to see if it gets any better. Thanks

May just be irritation from the treatment as well :) nothing serious but enough to cause a couple of sneezes :) goodluck, keep us posted

Turns out i may have just stressed her out a little bit, she is fine now. Havent heard any heavy breathing and/or sneezing.. Thanks for the help guys!

Good to hear that she has improved. I'd still recommend keeping an eye on her. Just incase it is an RI. Just because the temps are quite cold down here in Melbourne. Not sure whether Mildura is warmer or cooler at the moment.
but hopefully it's all fine and nothing to worry about :)
