No you definatly need to take that snake to a herp vet, there is some serious swelling there! has it got a pussy yellowish goo in its mouth?

yeah go to a reptile vet ASAP,
looks like a very bad case of kanker , or posibily a tumor
either way rush it to a reptile vet.

ok will do asap.
thanks for the help.
i have taken it to a vet, which she gave me two courses of antibiotics which have not helped one bit. if i have another diamond which is showing signs of the same thing, what would i be best to do?

Take it to Peter Nosworthy at Wyoming Greencross Vet. On the Central Coast if you can. There isn't much he hasn't seen.
I don't think its Stomatitis (if it is, its the worst case I have ever seen) but more like a tumor or maybe something else.
Does it feed?

it will more than likely need co****s of both oral and injectable antibiotics.

How long have you had the snake and what are the conditions you are keeping it in?

the other diamond will also need antibiotics before it gets as bad as the one in the pic.

donks

sounds like an abscess you need to have it lanced and flushed and then a strong course of antibiotics. thats if there is no underlying cause like broken jaw or something similar. A reptile vet is the way to go. if you have another snake with the same symptoms then you need to have a very good look at your husbandry and get both the treatment they need

its not the most uncommon place for infection in trauma cases ( this pic was post surgery so you can imagine the size before hand)

noone has suggested diamond python syndrome? from what i have seen a gross hanging jaw like that tends to be the most obvious outright symptom. at which point you should be at a reptile vet, now!

scan0004.jpgscan0009.jpg This happened to a Coastal of mine , $700 later and she still didnt recover . l think if it happened again l would not have put her through it . l hope yours has better luck .:(

Because its not diamond Python Syndrome.............
Hanging jaw means that !! not hanging due to a golf ball inserted in the lower lip................
correct advice is always nice.
