im about to get a new childrens python, it will be in my entertainment room in the corner, the room isnt huge and i was wondering about smoking, since me and my friends smoke in the room. is it harmful to the snake? and would leaving the door open (its an outside room) be sufficient. feel free to shed some light, i dont want to endanger my future snake

it will be as bad for the snake as it is for you, if not worse.

remember if you get smoke in the enclosure it won't be quite as well ventilated as the room.

id suggest you smoke outside, or move the snake into a smoke free environment. common sense really...

ahk fair enough, not exactly cigarettes but its the same type of smoke i guess. we can just smoke outside then, thnx :)

the snake might want ya to past the dutchy to the left hand side

I'm kidding - so bad for your snake. If you're going to have a pet, be responsible and don't subject it to your own bad health habits ;) It's lungs are much tinier than yours.

I would just have the smoke outside..would you like to be cold for one min or end up hurting your python? :)
That photo Kristy is a crackup hahah

Why would you want to smoke around your snake it would increase your rodent food bill.;)
My friends mother use to enjoy a smoke. Lets just say their pet budgie didn't have a very long life. I would imagine the snake might go the same way.

Marijuana causes neurological issues in lots of animals. In mammals and birds usually requires a trip to the vet, fluid therapy etc. Much more difficult to treat in a reptile, so yep, you'll end up killing it.

Hahahahahahah, gotta laugh. A bit of wacky baccy, hey it doesn't hurt you, right, so why in hell should you be wondering about your snake.

Might be a case of you don't want the snake to end up with dead brain cells although how would you know.....

as said earlier anything with lungs is effected by smoke. and also anything with brains is effected by the smoke your talking about so yea its a definite no go.

Snakes have only one functioning lung anyway, so they're doubly susceptible...

much to my complete horror when I lost my 13 year old dog last year he was found to be suffering from emphasema (he did have other problems aswell but I was horrified to learn that I had contributed to shortening his life.) I am perfectly healthy and yet he is dead because of my ignorance. Dont risk it. smoke outside or move your snake to somewhere smoke free as others have suggested. Pets are just as much at risk as people. Anything that breathes can be killed by secondhand smoke and I would imagine that smoke would linger alot longer if it got into a snakes enclosure, it would be like a gas chamber, much more then my dog was ever exposed to. Trust me, its not worth risking it, the feeling your left with knowing your responsible for your pets suffering is NOT something you want to live with.

I 'smoke' in my garage around my ferrets and they are perfectly fine (I got a lounge, fridge, tv and gaming console out there)
although I try not to get too much smoke in their direction lol
And I have smoked around pets for years and nothing bad has happened, YET! (I always try and avoid blowing smoke at the pet, because I don't like the idea of my animals getting baked)

BUT in saying that, each time the animal was outside - or in the ferrets case, in a wire cage, right next to a garage door with PLENTY of ventilation
And your enclosure won't have much ventilation, so if any smoke was to get into the enclosure and dutch it out....THAT is what could be dangerous
So I probably wouldn't risk that

FACT
Weed has been proven to be the least harmful drug, including cigarettes and alcohol
And the main reason people get health issues is because they either do it from a plastic bong, or because of the tobacco they mix it with
And there is also no record of anyone ever over-dosing from pot
-My health teacher actually confirmed this a few years back (I don't go to school anymore)

I'm definitely not trying to push it on anyone, I just thought I would state that for anyone that wants to flame a pot smoker.

What a load of rubbish... Yer pot smoking is perfectly healthy tell that to all the people that have had to go to rehab to kick the habit or all the people that have suffered from Schizophrenia from it... No party drug is good for you no matter how you try and say it is and that is a fact..

If anyone cares about there animals they would not smoke anything around them

I advise you not to condone weed around here... nor smoke anything near anything with lungs (as mentioned).
