Hi
I have a 2 year old blond spotted python I have had him since he was 3 weeks old and his shreds have been regular and have always been complete and there has never been a problem but his last 2 shreds have been in separate pieces but with his last shred part of his skin has stayed on his back. I have soaked him and cleaned out his enclosure and looks him over thoroughly and cant see any sine of disease or parasites. so I can only assume it is enclosure related as I pit in a new object for him to climb on and have a bit of fun.

I have soaked him in warm water but the in shredded skin hasn't come off... I have only soaked him twice and they haven't been for long periods because he seams to be getting uneasy and nervous and I dont want to break they trust barrier with him but I know it needs to come off... Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get it off.

Also if he shreds again while the skin is still stuck to him will this affect his next shred?

Oh no. He has trust barriers. the amount of times he has bitten me or tried to bite me i couldn't count. he started off like a psycho but I just couldn't part with him :p been 7 months now since he has tried to bite me and I want to keep it that way.

Put him in a wet pillow case, just make sure it stays warm and that should get the shed off. Lol and snakes don't have trust barriers lol. I don't know what could be causing it, maybe look at humidity.

I had issues with my spotted when I first got her where her shed was all fine except for the eye - pillow case worked, but had to give it a couple of goes over a few days. Just put the snake in and leave for a while (15-20 mins)

But I also swear that she hated me after doing this to her. Really dont want to have to do it again....

I've also heard that holding a damp towl in your hand and letting her slide through it gently can also work? I'm not expert, so maybe let some other people give their advice.

Pillow case inside out alsp - just means to cotton strands or seems.

I find the damp tea towel to be very effective. You have to let the snake quietly sit in it for maybe 15 minutes - just loosely enclosed so it gets high humidity. Then let it slither out, applying gentle pressure so it can rub off that bit of retained shed. If it's damp, you can often gently rub off the retained shed - especially if it's a small piece. Rub from head to tail.

Thanks might try the pillow case first and see how it goes. the skin stilll stuck to him is about 13cm long so i realy need to get it off.... :/
