I posted this before but not many people posted. my bhp hasn't used his tongue at all for at least a week or more. The vet had no specific info on why this happens, has anyone had this happen to them? he's not eating btw.

It could be RI a respiratory infection. Does she have any mucous around or in her mouth? wheezing zounds when breathing? puffy throat? My woma went off food one week, stopped flicking her tongue and when i had her looked at she had a massive case of R.I, that was treated but it was too late and she died. But they discovered she also had tumours in her mouth and was generally in poor health since birth. Im not saying this is whats going on with your BHP, but look into it more. do you have a reptile vet nearby?

I do yes, I took him to a reptile vet but all he could say was "maybe it nicked it's tongue", I assume (hope) if m bhp has RI he would have noticed. The snake is still very active and he is drinking, I may find another vet. What would this mucus look like? I have had a look in his mouth and his saliva is sticky but I assume that's normal ?

If there is gunk caked around his mouth and nostils, and really thick and gluggy in his throat, it could be R.I how does his breathing sound?

for me personally if an animal is still active and a professional vet has seen the animal behaving normal ,leave them alone until showing more signs of distress systems . saying that my bhp uses its tongue very regularly and could be be described as sticky compared to carpets i guess

I had a look on google images to see what an RI looks like and his mouth to me seems fine. I do notice his throat slightly enlarge when he is what seems to me him trying to flick his tongue and also mine normally flicks his all the time.. the vet did say there was nothing to panic about, I guess because there is no difinitive answer as to why his tongue is not flicking it still worries me. The vet asked me to bring him back in two weeks (one week now) if his tongue is still the same and a fieces sample and they would do a blood test.
