Hello to all,
I'm in the process of possibly buying my first snake, ive got a couple of smaller snake books but none that speak of vibrations and snakes, i do have keeping and breeding pythons ( the 380 page bible that people on here have recommended) on its way via post, but its not guaranteed to cover this topic either.
I live in an open plan style bungalow, being in a share house, this is the only room my possessions and i can occupy. My issue is that i play drums. I only play my electronic kit in my room. Much less noise for my neighbours but just as much vibration for a snake,

I have measured and from the Drums to where the enclosure would go is around 5 metres.
Does anybody think this would do any harm or agitate a snake. If so i will have to re think my options which probably means moving house. haha.

Ive been a reader of this site for a while now, just recently became a member as im now really keen to purchase a snake. Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers - Junty.

I play bass guitar and the vibrations from that can sometimes annoy the snake in that room, and other times he just sits still and doesn't seem to care. How often do you play and for how long?

I can't see it being a drama. Observe them and if seem distressed shorten your sessions or find somewhere else to practice.

i don't play any instruments, but i like to sing.now that can piss off a snake....my singing......hahahahaha.just see how it goes.

I suppose it could depend it is and its personality as well.

Thanks for your replies. I play everyday for about an hour or so, can be split up to be twenty minutes after work, more after tea etc or can be for n hour straight. I am more than happy to cut times and skip days too, just wanted to make sure this wouldn't do any harm. All i can do is keep a close eye on the snake and go from there.

haha, i think a snake would regurgitate its food if it heard me sing, unless i'm drunk, then i'm amazing.

I have an electric kit aswell, since my house has wooden floors I have the kit on carpet. All you can do to reduce vibration is have the kit on a rubber mat or have a rubber mat under the enclosure. Get it from clark rubber or somewhere similar.

Concrete or wooden floors? Wood resonates more, you won't have any vibration issues on concrete (only transfered vibration via sound waves).

the whole room is carpet, and any potential enclosure i look at will either have a stand or as you said, ill just make sure i have something to reduce the vibrations if the floor of the enclosure is on ground. thanks for that.

They get used to it...they definitely can hear....poor Elvira was not happy the first time hubby mowed the lawn because the could 'hear' the vibrations from the lawn mower....but then she worked out that it wasnt to do with her and now she doesnt take any notice....

I used to keep me diamond right against the wall of my cinema room which was loud enough to move the pictures on that wall courtesy of a 500W 15 inch sub I used to run in there. She never seemed to mind.

i also have a 10" sub with a 500w 5.1 system in my bedroom where i keep my 4 snakes i dont crank it as loud as i used to but still get some heavy bass, i also have a 12" 600w sub and home theater in the loungeroom next to my bedroom all with wooden floors which the sub can shake the whole house. i havent had any feeding problems or signs of stress yet and i sometimes play music for hours a day.

I had been wondering if I could make a TV stand/snake enclosure for my room, but was worried about vibrations. Then I saw a pic on here with a guys entertainment unit consisting of a TV in the middle, and two snake enclosures either side where the DVD's would normally go. Seems like that would be the go. If I do it, I'll make a middle stand for the Tv, and two seperate verticle enclosures so if it does bother the snakes, I can move them away :)
