Hey guys I fed my 3 yr old spotted girl Sunday and I got up this morning and she's already pooed just wondering if u guys think it's to fast cos usually she don't poo till Thursday or Friday please give me your thoughts on this matter. Thanks Glenn

Mine poo in all different time periods. I wouldn't be concerned, it could be from her previous feed.

If the poo looks normal dont worry...I dont like the sound of yellow and white.....id be taking her to the vet sooner rather than later and I am hoping for you sake it isnt fatty liver disease.

I think it from to much fat in there food or it been over feed
But I think I'm wrong

black headed pythons are particulary susceptible to it (mind you this is just from my reading I am a jungle girl) and it is because in the wild they eat reptiles which are low in fat but in captivity we feed rats which if they are large can be high in fat. The general consensus from all the threads I have read about it is that you should not feed black head pythons rats that are bigger than 140 grams.

other pythons can get faty liver disease as well but it is not as common. I have decided that my pythons do not get rats bigger than 140 grams. I watch my animals and if they still seem hugry after a feed I give them a second 140 gram rat. Occasionally they seem as though they arent getting enough to eat but most of the time they are fine. Captive snakes are not moving around as much as snakes in the wild and so they dont need all thecalories and fat of a huge rat.

Plus I have noticed that their poos dont have the massive urates that had when I was feeding a 250 gram rat. and if you think about it if I go feed two rats that is only 280 grams or so....with much less fat and better food value because they get two lots of innards etc rather than all the fat.

You just need to be aware of watching you animals and feeding appropriately.

The crap you snake drops is not the last feed you gave it it is more likely
the one before that!
People seem to worry far to much about their snakes crap habbits.
As for fatty liver problems they are few and far between and have no bearing on crap habbits!
Rats up to 180-200gms are no problem as far a fat is concerned its the xlarge to jumbo,s that do have larger fat deposits as they have stopped growth,

Why not feed them a drumstix of a chook
Or is it bad to feed them that

Another poo thread... all the experts come out of the woodwork for these... not:(!

i wouldnt feed drumsticks from chickens.....

stimigex one of the things I always look at is my snakes crap....to me it is one of the first inidcators something is wrong.....and I can tell you if one of my snakes did a yellow and white poo I would be going to the vet for a checkup.

All snake poo i have ever seen have a white and yellow section in them, not within the dark/furry/large turd, this is just calcium from the bones of the prey. If the color of the dark/furry/large turd is yellow or white, that is a reason for alarm.

one thing to note is my boa usually poops out the yellow and white turd shortly after eating, then in a week she poops out the massive and healthy brown turd, and if you notice most reptiles and snakes, there is always that white turd in with the brown turd and some urine.

poop.

I could imagine that the big bone in a drunstick would be harder to digest, so it wouldn't be ideal to feed. Normally if someone wants to feed their snake chicken, its a day old chicken chick.
