Hi All, something quit funny happened.... I got a new snake a lil over a moth ago and she is about three years. She shed a week after I got her and had a really bad shed. All of a sudden, she seems to have gone into shed again.... What could the reason be? I haven't even fed her since I got her and she has not lost any condition... Could the bad shed have influenced her into another one???

She has her belly scales from the last shed and even her eye caps... she hasn't shed the first quarter of her body but has shed the rest clean.... I know a snake that has been injured will go into a shed once it recovers but in this case, I have no Idea what has happened and even the breeder has no clue....Not worried but just very confused. Do let me know what u think... Thanks and regards.

hummm odd.

give her a soak mate.

the scales still over the eyes wont help her vision much.

when mine shed i always inspect the skin to see if there is the eye scales an that there is no discharge of anyform (other than uric acid an feces).

if the soak does not work well try the "wet pillow case" trick.

HI Sturdy, thanks for the advice... I didn't wana soak her cos I just got her and guess I will need to do that if she fails to have a clean shed this time.... But what I don't understand is why has she gone into shed again??? Would like to hear from more people on their thoughts... Thanks in advance.

JR....

Yeah, I think she's shedding again to try and get the excess skin off from the last shed. (please correct me if I'm wrong guys )
Just wondering, when you saw that she hadn't shed completely, how come you didn't soak her and get the old skin off? I don't want to sound rude or anything, just asking.....
Hope this shed works out for her.... and as Sturdy said, if it doesn't, try the soaking, and if that doesn't work, try the wet pillow case trick :)

Let us know how it goes ;)

snakes generally shed every 4-6 weeks dont they??? not sure if thats the same with adults though..

Snakes shed whenever they need to grow.... they don't have a time pattern (usually). It also depends on the snake.
