So I bring him out and he instantly closes his eyes to try and sleep.

He thinks if he closes his eyes you can't see him, lol

true, they will close theyre eyes when they feel threatened and slowly open them to see if your still there.... my ewd's do it when ever i put my hand or anything near them

Haha he doesn't feel threatened, I know that for sure. He climbs all over me then finds somewhere to lay down and sleep.

It's pretty obvious by body language and getting to know your pet. When he's feeling threatened, he stands up for himself, makes himself as big as he can and tries to bite.
It's also pretty obvious since as soon as I put my hand in there he jumped into it, he wants to come out. He wouldn't want to jump into my hand if he felt threatened by it.

Exactly right, ultimately they are still a wild animal and instinct is not going to be removed very quickly.

My new bearide does the same thing, runs up and down the tank looking at you. Then when he comes out goes to your shoulder or lap

hahaha that's so cute! Reminds me of a kid hiding behind a leaf thinking it can't be seen.

thats right, but if they are handled all the time they do become very tame, i can do anything i want with mine, haven't you ever had one for a pet????????????????

thats a load of bull, still wild animals, get real, they no nothing more then to be pets, if you let one go it would be as good as dead, so how can it still be a wild animal,
have you ever had one for a pet????????????????

why is it somebody always has to have a go at almost everything posted, all horsy was doing was showing others her nice dragon pics, who the hell cares if it's still got wild instincts????????
it's her pet and she loves it,

and if you don't like my reply, bad luck, bite me..................

flame suit on again......................

Great pic horsy!! Looks like you have a nice little buddy there.

mine close their eyes whenever i pick them up, if i reach out to pat them they do the same, if i stop they open them and glare at me to keep going...then close them again when they get the patting hand back
thats after 2 years, they cling to me if i go to put them down, they get handled many times daily and theyre definately not scared of me,...so u must be his human mummy,..!! :)

oh, and hes gorgeous,..!! :)
