Hi,
I have a B2 microclimate thermostat that needs the probe replacing. I accidentaly pulled it off then removing from a rack system. Can any one help? They cost a far bit new and just for the sake of soldering on a new whatsit (thermister or similar?) it seems a waste to throw away when there may be someone who knows the secret of repairing.

Hey Bob,

When you say the probe, do you mean the hole white cord pulled out from the body of the thermostat? What were you doing, swinging from it? :)

No the end bit. The black rubber encased probe which I'd firmly wedged into one of the tubs in the rack, broke off. If it was just a matter to rewiring I'd be fine. I hate to admit it but I've done this before. That time I was able to solder the broken wires back together. However this time around the actual thingie (looks like a miniture transister and it is clearly the bit that monitors the temperature) that is inside the black moulded end bit got broken so even self sufficient me needs help.....

Is it a brown black orange and gold resistor? Any reason you can't solder it back onto the wires?

I have a B1 microclimate spare you can borrow if you need one urgently. You just need to drive to Sutherland. :)

I've also got a variable control soldering station so we can always give it a go. Well, we could if either of us were licenced electricians that is. :)

Yes it is-the brown black orange and gold thingie that looks like a resister. Last time I was able to solder this all back in place. However this time in trying to get to this thingie it broke it in two! Hence my need to for someone to help who is licenced in these matters
Thnks for the offer but I have spare.

Take the resistor (or whats left of it) down to Dick Smith, or preferably jaycar since Dick Smith employs 12yr olds with no knowledge, and see if they can sell you a replacement. Explain what it is for, someone with half a brain will sell you the right thing.

Yes, would be a shame to ditch it because of that.

Good luck.
