I have just recently acquired a spotty (approx 1.5yrs old) who shed last week. I noticed that she managed to get the skin off her head and then decided that was enough. A friend of mine has had his spotty for 10 years and has always had to assist with her shedding. I was just wondering if any other spotty owners have had this problem, or if it is sheer coincidence that Tori and Striker are both spotties.

Any insight on this would be much appreciated.

Daz.

i've got a spotted, always sheds ok, apart from early on leaving the tail tip on (which needs to be removed)
most important is to get the spectacle scale off.
you can spray a bit of water mist into the tank at shedding time to raise the humidity, or put a moist towel in there for it to grip against to help shed.

HOWEVER: do not spray too much mist in there if you're going to try it, i did with my first snake and she got such bad blister disease that she died from it.

Hi ,
I have 4 spotty's and all seem to shed fine :), from time to time they may have some skin left on parts of them, which is common but they remove those parts from general movement.
So from my point of view all seems to be fine, maybe just a coincidence thing

i have 4 spotteds who all shed great , put a humidity meter in and see what it reads .
for the perfect shed with my spotteds i try and keep it at about 45% durring there sheds . as soon as i notice there eyes going milky i fill up the small water bowl in the hot/heated area .

Awesome. Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm not fussed about helping her shed, she's a lot more tolerant than our other snake (scrub python). I'll look into the humidity levels and see if regulating it will help.

Cheers,
Daz.

bath the spotted in warm water...that will help loose up the old skin...also I have rough branches and rocks so my spotties rub on them and their old skin gets caught and it really helps when they discard their old skins...never had a problem since.
