Hello .
I have a coastal carpet hatchling. Well he is about 9 months old anyway. And whenever I get him out he is happy to just cruise around. But after a while he starts wrapping around my fingers and hand quite tight and not letting go. When I try to get him off he just holds tighter and wraps around my other fingers. The temps in his tank is 31-32 at the hot end. When he does this he never tries to bite me, but if I can fix the problem so he isn't doing this when he is 6 foot long that would be great.
Thanks.

Tight wrapping and squeezing is generally a sign of a nervous snake. Try handling for shorter periods and putting him back before this starts to happen. I usually see this when first getting a snake out - especially if disturbed in the hide box. In those cases, the snake usually relaxes after a bit and then starts cruising. Sounds like you have the opposite and yours gets nervous after being out for a while.

look i have no idea but others that would might wont more details i know when ppl ask for help they allways say we need more for example

whats its food size, how often do u feed it, whats the tank size, do u have a cool end and what are the temps.

they might not need these answers or maybe more lol but these might help u get an answer faster if u have all that u can give hear

hope it goes well

Agreed, Clearly the snake has had enough and is stressing!

Yeah, I always take this as a sign that they are over being handled. My big guy starts to squeeze rhythmically almost and I know he is starting to get a bit annoyed about being out so long. Its happening less as he gets older, he is becoming more relaxed about being out.

this is intresting iv never had this i have only knowen they have had enough when they piss on ya only had it with one snake my bredli who atm is only just started to let me handle him without biting me lol but he used to allways piss on me i didnt know squeezing was a isign they had enough is there any other signs and am i wrong by assuming on ya is a sign

If they relieve themselves on you, it is often a sign of anxiety. However, sometimes they are just full and the exercise gets things moving!

I dont handle my snakes when they are "Brewing a Poo". You can normally tell as there is normally a visible bulge from the cloaca forward.

My stimmie generally doesn't like being handled when she's "brewing a poo", as you so delicately put it, Abnrml. She won't come out of her enclosure on her own. I respect that. :D
