Star cassowary's toad tragedy

You may have realized I have been looking for toad stories today. This is sad.

I find it strange that they said a strange find because she had lived around toads all her life. Cassos are big eaters of fruit but also eat animals. Lonny and I hand feed a pair of Cassos every week and they are very picky on their food. They hate apple, don't mind honeydew and love tomato. But none of it compares with them seeing you with a day old chick in your hand. Trying to hide the chick behind your back doesn't help, they are shy but will almost push you over to get at the small bird. It is a tragedy, and toad proofing outside enclosures would be almost impossible. But the death of another native the these invaders shouldn't be too surprising.
