i had a probelm wher my snake swallowed half my finger and refused to let go even as i liightly wet him

oh no...what did u do?? what are u suppost to do in these situations?? just keep still and wait for them to just realise and come off? how long did it take mate?? n does it hurt or just doesnt really bother ?? more of a laugh? seems everyone thinks the idea is a bit of a joke?? I spose I will just have to see..better he tries to eat me now than when he's an adult huh?

Don't know if this helps but I have a bredli that got really snappy. I put in another hide for him on the cooler side of his enclosure and he is fine now. Not sure if this was coincidence or not?

nvenm8....about the pic with my daughter...he would kiss us..or lick/taste our lips all the time...nose and eyes...something this lil guy loves to do! cruise along out faces all that..I could have anyone come and he will do it to them...yeh I can see how a bite to the lip could easily happen...spose I gave him a lil too much trust...congrats on ur winning pic!!

I think what im gonna do guys...wash my hands with alcohol b4 handeling...dont take him out to feed anymore...feed him 2 pinkies 1 every say 4 days?? ive tried to feed him one after another in the same feeding time...it sits there all night and stinks in the morning under the heat..he doesnt eat it.

If he still tries to eat me then..well so be it...im really lookign forward to when he's big and I can just have him around my neck cruising round my house doing housework and whatever...so I really need to make sure he will be tame..thanks everyone for ur help! much appreciated..oh and if he does bite me...i will get a pic!

It always amazes me ,that people let their snakes or even the ones at reptile parks and zoo,s and trust the animal around the facial area.......YOU ONLY HAVE ONE SET OF EYES!.......it may be fun and games but get tagged on the eye ball and minor you may just get an infection but major you could lose your eye........have a think about it before doing it and especially with your kiddies ..:|..make them wear safety glasses at least,,, tag on the face will heal but geez your eyes are precious.........;)

Yes I have to agree with redbellybite. I too am guilty of allowing my snakes near my face, and always being told to stop it. I had a yearling port macquarie carpet that I had to rescue from a lady's bird cage. It ate her canary then couldn't bet back out the cage. He struck at my face and just missed my eye by a couple mm. I still haven't learnt. Then on the weekend it was feed time for my 7 - 8ft olives. Took my eye off the female for a split second and she very nearly had my throat  she just nicked me but I managed to jump out her way without her getting a good bite in. She launched herself out of her enclosure by a good 2 foot or so to do that and her enclosure is 5ft off the ground. Any other day I have trusted her to check out my face. It was only she smelt a rat but could smell it on me so I was her number one target while she was in feed response. But now that she is getting on in size I think I have to start showing her some respect. She is a snake not a lovey dovey toy :D

Spotted pythons aren't 7foot long I know, but they seem to have a reputation for trying to eat fingers and they can leave just as nicer mark as a bigger python, and boy can they hang on.
