i know the stimmie wont eat anything bigger then a large adult mice once fully grown

my quesiton is

is it worth while why he/she is younger now to switch to rats (rat pup small weaned rats be the equivelnat)?

should he stay on mice or switch over which is better for him/her more nutritional

like to see everyones opinion on this why i should or why i shouldnt and explain your answer so i can see where your coming from

Thanks

i prefer to switch to rats as soon as i can, they smell less, and when the snake is bigger you'll be feeding it less fat compared to a similar sized mouse.

a stimmy will eat bigger than an adult mouse, most my adult childrens are on hopper rats or small weaners. one female is chewing down a 50g rat weekly when i condition her for breeding.

I agree with ozzie.
Rats are so much better for your snake.

and they tend not to split in half like mice if you sit them in hot water for 5 seconds too long....

I never switched my stimmy over to rats and he was fine his whole life :)

IMO rats are better for your stimmie - they have more nutrition. adult vs adult - not sure about a hopper vs adult mouse. I agree with above poster - rats don't smell as bad. but my stimmie wouldn't take a rat - wish he would and he doesn't need anything bigger than an adult mouse.

she is a semi adult - I tried when she was a juvi/yearling.

ok just adjusted my next rodent order im attempting the switch over to rats it a lot less complicated for myself if i can get them all onto rats, thanks guys

wish my girl would eat rats too. but if she doesn't eat her mouse, my bredli sure will.

guess the key sercret from what ive bein told to do was bump up the temps a little let it go past there feed days a extra few days that way they will be very hungry and should take it if not scenting and should take it, guess persistence is the key they will eventually get hungry enough and take it ill keep everyone posted with my updates

I'm nto sure if the concept that they will eventually get hungry enough to take it is correct. It seems logical but snakes are pretty stupid, they will starve themselves until they die.
