Hey there! I’m a very beginner snake owner. I am tossing up between a stimsons vs Bredli python.
Aside from size, what are the main difference between the two? I understand the bredli would be at least double the size lol. I wouldn’t want anything bigger than a bredli I think.
I am intending to get a hatchling-yearling regardless (probably at an expo in feb, NSW).
What are the pros and cons to each type? I am definitely looking for a beginner snake, I am willing to cop a bite, but would prefer a more curious and even temperament, I’d prefer not to get bitten if I can help it hahaha.

Another question would be how regularly would I need to upsize an enclosure for a bredli. From my understanding a stimmie would need it 1-3 times depending on the enclosure sizes. But I assume bredli would need it more times, not sure how quickly they grow either.

Also curious about the morphs they come in? And typical price ranges? I quite like the look of the t+ stims.

Thank you all!! Any and all advice is much appreciated!

Hey,
They are very different pythons to be considering.
Average stimson is about 1m, while Bredli are more like 3m. If you get a bredli you need to be prepared to invest in a quite large vivarium to accommodate them as an adult, preferably 6ft or something with height. Stimson would be spoilt with a 3ft viv and are naturally ground dwellers so don't need a taller space.
Both species are known to have milder temperaments but I would always recommend meeting and handling the hatchling you intend to buy, a nippy baby won't always grow out of it and and adult bredli is capable of a pretty nasty bite. Stimson are definitely easier to handle.
Commonly bredli are standard or hypo (brighter red). There's a lot of crazy stim morphs out there, but try to also consider some of the stunning locales, with such a broad distribution they have a lot of colours already available. My favourites are the Pilbara Stimson which is beautiful red and Mossman Valley isolated strain Pygmy Banded Stimson.

Good luck 🐍
