I was talking to a neighbour(we call her "Frothy Val" LOL! She foams at the mouth when she talks! Anyway, I was talking to her bout our rodent breeding for reptiles. I said that I hadn't realised that there were so many people who had reptiles as pets in Oz till I got into this site with so many nice people in it. And she said (you can guess it) ewwww!!! why would they want such horrible "slimy" and gross animals as pets. Well, I set her straight I can tell you. Told her she should learn more about them before passing judgement. Didn't even want to touch my froggies when I showed them to her. Said they look like Cane Toads!! Yeah right!! STUPID WOMAN! Grrrr!!. Well enuf said. Lots of ignoramuses out there!

My uncle reckons reptile keepers have a screw loose, yet he has pics of his dives with sharks.

I've lost friends over my spiders Certain members of my family won't even visit me anymore.

I mean, they are tanked and in a separate room where most people would never see them unless they went in there.

I went to the vets yesterday to pick up my panacur .

I took one of my coastal hatchies so they could weigh it for dosage rates .
The vet really didnt know anything about reptiles she even said :

" i dont think many pythons are venomous"

I ended up having the vet and two vet nurses in to watch in the end they all had a hold and made remarks how snakes felt different to what they expected,and how great the way they moved on them was .
I left them on a positive note and now they want to see the rest of my snakes .

I wouldn't call people that know nothing about snakes or have never had anything to do with them "stupid" just ignorant of what they know nothing about.

I have showed countless people that snakes are not what they seem to the uneducated and have swung about 90% of them round and many have snakes themselves now.It's a good feeling....

I was really happy with the way the vets accepted my snakes with awe, not snakes eewwww!!!
