Well, Mick, maybe not Stupid, just an ignorant person who hasn't learnt enough bout reptiles hey? Her frothing and bubbling bout stuff she doesn't know about just got my back up. Cheers Cheryl

Nah RR not saying anything against you just letting everyone know about my expierience with the vet

I do like the frothy mouth bit though !

Some people just arent willing to accept new things !

i agree with browns too.... we too have converted many people into realising that snakes arnt as bad as history has portrayed them... several people now have become herps themselves..... i tell them that " my dog in the back yard, as placid as she is could do more damage then any of my snakes" and i hand them my quietest little one that has never bitten a soul yet... except a few mice... and i say" if he bits you i will give you $100", so they hold them, see how nice they really are, and begin to understand them better.... but i never force anyone... and i stay true to my word, but i have never had to pay anyone yet! and 99% of people have their eyes opened... and they find they actually like how they feel and look...
but i also have the problem, most of my family wont visit because of my pets.... and they live out of town, so i cant even get them to come to town and try it... never mind....

keep herpin'

i just thought i might mention that it isnt always women that are "stupid" as far as beeing scared of something they dont understand, i know a few men that wont step inside the house either....... go figure!

I wouldn't call people that know nothing about snakes or have never had anything to do with them "stupid" just ignorant of what they know nothing about.

I agree, but someone like frothy val who bitches and moans about how horrible they are without knowing, and being closed to learning about them is stupid.

If you ever get a chance do a show with your herps like I did at the pet expo this year. You will find that there are three types of people, those who can count and those who can't.
The first type are the people fascinated and/or comfortable with herps, generally kids.
The second type are the one who won't go near the animals, some will stand 10 meters away and make faces. These are beyond help.
The third and the most important group are those who are fascinated by the animals and, at the same time, repelled by them. These you can often convince to touch the animals ("feels like a high quality handbag" or " feels like a muscle man in fine leather" are two good lines). With a bit out luck, at the end of the day, you have moved a couple of people onto our side.

Most people I know are either one way or the other. Either their interested, or hate them.

Most people tho, you can show them reptiles, and most are much more interested then I would have thought.

Thats right, reptiles are just very misunderstood, and once people see that they are not anything that they are said to be ("vicous, slimy etc) they actually are really interested. Most of them ask alot of really good questions. Especially when I bring our my beardies :) No normal human being could ever not like them. They are sooo cute!

Hey Woma n I am a woman too! but this woman is just sooo stupid sometimes. Not just ignorant re reptiles, but just about everything. Besides she just froths and foams everytime she opens her mouth, hence the "Frothy Val" reference. LOL
