I hate the way apple does things but I have to say if it was me I would go the iPad. They just seem nicer to use to me but I have only tried a low end android tablet so may not have had the same experience one would with a decent model.

why dont you just get a windows one??? in harvey norman i was listening to the dude giving his spill he recommended the windows ones as they are fully compatible have word powerpoint etc :D hope this helps :D

The blackberry Playbook is actually worth having a look at. Very powerful and a small size with a nice high res screen, it's operating system is brilliant and very good at multitasking. Android app player is coming out soon which should fix the lack of applications for it.. But it's web browser is second to none.. With full flash (quickest flash out of all tablets).
Don't buy new... Can be had for $320 on eBay... People who get them free with their vodafone deals are getting rid of them. I have an iPad2, overclocked hp touchpad and Playbook is the device I love the most. :) just a different option... Gestures from the bezel are awesome.. good videos on YouTube demo'n how the bezels and interface work

Your other option is to get a netbook - wait for the sales and you can get something decent for not too much.

The android platform is popular amongst people who want to be able to customise, and put the effort into maintaining a device that suits their needs individually. If you want a product that will cuddle you and prevent you from doing anything "stupid," then an iPad is suitable.

It depends what you want to do but there are two products you can look at....I bought myself an acer aspire one.....theyare now down to $300...sensational little notebook laptop and you can organise mobile internet for them...and whilst it isnt lightning speed the little laptop has been so good. I work as a counsellor and I am studying at the same time. I am able to work on documents inbetween clients etc....just sensational.

If you want to look at tablets have a look at the asus tablet...you cant do word documents on it but it comes with this docking keyboard that more than doubles the battery life of an ipad and it looks really good. I am still reading reviews on them but honestly I am seriously thinking that I will be buying one instead of an ipad.

kind regards

Elizabeth

Thanks Fantazmic.

Funny that you say you work as a counsellor, I am studying welfare with the aim of counselling (although other areas are starting to gain my interest). It is this study that I want a tablet for.

The asus is in my top 3 (purely from research).

I'm just doing th 4+2 to become a psychologist. I really pushed through the last 12 months to get the majority of my hours done and it has nearly killed me....really nasty burn out...I have lowered my hours back and am just starting to recover but I think it will take a few more weeks yet. I am going on holidays with hubby to daylesford at the end of the month and I really need it. I am a couples therapist and although there are times when it is hard I really love it overall. The place I am working at keep promising paid work but I just have to hope something happens between now and when I finish my supervised practice. I have decided I will have to start looking about 3 months before I am due to complete....I would love to wait till the end but the trouble is I have to look after myself and after working counselling full time to go to nothing I would implode badly I think.

Getting back to the puters though the acer aspire one notebook is a good buy. Mine is still going strong after 3 years. The only thing is you do have to backup off it....its little brains dont cope with a lot of information stored on it.

good luck with your study

Elizabeth
