6 Weeks ago, our bearded bragon (Back then it was 8 weeks old) had to have her little arm amputated due to being attacked by one of the other babies. Tommorow is the day for the stitches to come out, our vet is accross the other side of town and suggested we do it ourselves. Has anyone had any experience with this and can maybe give us some advice.
Thanks

Did they give you a stitch cutter? Theyre not totally nessecary but make it easier...just get something small if not...like nail scissors, cut them, and they should gently come out really easily...ive only ever removed my own and dog stitches, but its simpler than you think

Should i also bath it first to make the skin softer, it's shedding at the moment also. And no we weren't given any stitch cutters, i was going to just use small nail scissors.

Pair of nail cutters ( as CooloDenturesBro ) said . then gentle pull the stitches out . Done it a few to time to myself and never had a problem

it is much easier with two people as you can have one person restraining while youre cutting the stitches - I assume an animal as young as yours will probably be somewhat uncooperative. As jungletrans said its not a difficult task, just take your time :)

ps. shes a bit cute!

And this will sound like common sense, but only cut one side below the knot- if you cut both, you'll remove the top of the knot but not the piece that passes underneath the skin. So cut one side below the knot, and then pull the knot away from the skin

Thanks soulboubt, she is pretty cute, i brought her as damaged goods (couldn't help myself).
I'll make sure i have someone there to help me out.
Thanks everyone for your advice.

Thanks Kitah, i'll keep that in mind.

I tried to cut the stitches, but the know was way too clode to her body, so we are off to the vet this afternoon!

My local vet couldn't do it either!! So off we go over to Frankston next week :?
