Good morning :)

So I pulled Elliot out (my baby Stimsons Python) and noticed that his shed on thurs was not entire and the last maybe 1.5-2cm of his tail was left behind... I picked at it and a few loose scales came away, just wondering if I should leave it alone or get it off and what are the best methods of doing this (I remember reading about the little rubber page turny thingys that you put on your thumb??)

Cheers in advance :)

One way to try is to wet your fingers and try and gently remove it. It should come off eventually and it’s not as bad as it would be if it were the spectacles. The eyes and tail are probably the most common parts to leave scales after a shed. When my Monty boo shed for the first time when I had him a little bit of his tail was left but it came off easily.

cheers :)

i might try soaking it for a bit and see if that helps...

hasnt anyone invented a reptile safe lube or something yet??

Claire ...get a well luke warm wet face washer wrap the end of your snake in it and hold firmly for a while ...then allow the snake to move through the cloth ,use the washer to help remove the shed ,the terry toweling will work well enough for stubborn shed ..
