Just last week on "Crocodile Hunter Diaries" he claimed that bats have great eyes. Thats funny, bats a are blind.

Although true bats(microbats) use echo-location, they can still see, some quite well(other not so well) and as already stated Flying foxes(megabats) have brilliant eyesight.

You say give a break to a guy who is the biggest fraud the reptile community has seen. He deserves no break in my opinion. He lies all the bloody time and really isn't such an animals guru. also not all bats are blind. Flying Foxes have excellent eyesight.

Flying foxes are not true bats, Theory at the moment tends that they descended from primates. Same ancestor as lemurs.

he does alot more than you think for the reptile community

in my opion Ether how about you learn something or know a little more about people before you have a shot at people. what you see on TV might not be what they r off screen.

for the record i have met (on more than a few times) Fatty V. and he is a A-Hole, he speeks down to peole had he treat female worse, the only people he likes are high profile people and anyone who can help him. But on TV he looks like a real nice bloke doesnt he.

I think those who hate Steve Irwin are jealous of what he has and has done. He is a legend and his enthusiasm and passion for all animals great and small in un-questionable. IMO

I met Paul Vautin once when I was working Security at Suncorp Stadium here in Brissy for a State Of Origin game. Yup, He's an A-Hole. I also met Steve Irwin when he filmed a segment in the Emergency Department at work. He is nothing at all like he is on TV.
