Just a thread to see what all our new buddies look like. How big, what colours etc.
Cheers Jeff

Most, if not all were over a foot long. Big ones they were. (shingles)

The beardy was cute as, very red in colour, a great score for hugsta!

I didnt get to see the turtle at all.

My shingle is only a small one, i couldnt resist her little smile so im gonna keep her. (i have 5 here to chose from....lol) but im pretty sure i have 2 big females here for the 4 people i picked up for to chose from.

Mine looks alot like a shingle back! :p
Its a very nice little lizard whatever sex it is, fantastic infact, first time either myself or my wife have seen a shingleback in the flesh. Awesome little creature, very dino like. Havent thought of a name yet, but likly will end up called "mr bumpy" or some such.

Males have a gap between the back of the head and the front legs. Females skulls are almost level with the front legs. From your photo, I would guess you have a male .....or perhaps a female sticking it's neck out. :D

Just had another look, when its relaxed the back of the skull looks pretty close to the legs, then again who can say without an animal of known sex with which to compare? Any other way to tell? how much gap are we talking about? leg width, half leg width or less?
Do males expel semenal plugs with defecation/urination like bluies?

The guy (dunno if it was Jeff) who I got it off thinks its a female. So heres a pic of Panzer (coz she looks like a tank :D ) and her temporary (till I switch her with the blueys, or put them outside) enclosure. Room is airconditioned tonight at around 20 degrees, the box with the flap has a heat mat under it and seems to be maintaining about 35/6 degrees and 40-45% humidity, and above the box is about 28-30 degrees and 45-50 % humidity. Other box is about 30 degrees beneath.

Here is my shingle from the ballot, little cutie she is!!

My eyes wont let me see the colouration in the photo, (colour blindness) but i know what your talking about, it is a number written on the lizard in orange paint texta, dont know what its for though.

Caz, ive called him Cuppachino ! looks like he got coffee froth on his nose.

I just got mine tonight. I got a big female about 40cm and she is either really fat or gravid.
She has a few scars and an infected toe but otherwise she is pretty healthy. She also has the odd colouration on her nose like instars does. Anyone know what the deal is with that?

Me too and I reckon it's a fair bet she is.
I will hopefully pick up the other 4 shingles on Saturday.
Instant colony! Albeit a little colony.
