IMO i cant see any reason to handle the snake anyway....leave it alone & look from a safe distance.

i think people trying to deliver a message like that is good

but for camera presentation they just FAIL

While you're all having a dig, Matt has been handling, filming and photographing reptiles for quite a few years now. He along with a few of his mates are trying hard to get reptile awareness and the issue of conservation across to the general masses.

While so many of you sit there in your nice comfy couches talking about trying to make a difference Matt IS getting out there in an attempt to to make a difference.

Its easy to judge isn't it!!!

spot on

He he he i have seen far worse on you Tube, what a gorgeous red belly.

Where i live there is the common misconception that RBBS are worse than "king browns" (easterns of course) and alot of people end up shovelling or shooting them. I'm quite happy for people to believe the lil white lie that where there are RBBS there are no Browns if it stops them from killing them.

These guys will only get better with their little clips-good luck to them.

What I'd like to see is less handling and more 'documentary' at a distance. The way it should be.

Rather than the do as I say not as I do type videos that are currently being produced.

I'm fully with you aliveandkicking - there's nothing but good intentions here - but... the above message is far more important - less handling and more facts!

Like most have said, i think it is full of good intentions but it seriously makes me cringe seeing anybody handle snakes more than they need to. Sorry to anyone who are their mates, that video i think will do more harm than good. It did not show respect for the snakes.

I can't help but agree, as for keyboard herpers, i like to go out and see reptiles in the wild and like to educate and make people aware but i don't do it twenty-four seven. Got to have some time to kick back and relax  we are judging from footage, you are judging from what exactly?

Oh dear.

Fellas, Steve-o is Steve-o and you're not.

Good on you for getting out there, but ditch the khakis, the Steve-o euphamisms and think about what you are portraying to the public.

As for the 'keyboard herpers', well it's called feedback, good or bad and if you put yourself out there, the best thing you can do is listen to it. Like I said, good on them for having ago, but do your own thing and don't try to be Steve.

They have everything he had except originality and experience. My favourite part was when he said "crickey" when it went up his shirt. It will be interesting to see if the government tolerates everyone overiding the laws to play Steve Irwin or if he was the only one allowed to do it. IMO they make more of a point that you shouldnt just go around and harrass animals for no reason, yet still that is all they seem to do just like old mate.

Im not sure of the exact words but i always laugh when i hear they old "snakes are not aggressive or dangerous etc." followed by "never gets close to these things because they are extremely dangerous snakes". Also the old RBBS are good because they mainly eat brown snakes(apart from their actually primary diet lol) I realise the need for snake preserving propaganda but soon it will become a religion or something... next we will see wanted ads for brown snakes to feed fussy rbbs.

kissing snakes regardless of harmless or not is not a professional act ,, yes i agree they are trying to convince public outcry on "the only good snake is a dead one "but as you said they have been working with snakes for a few years now...THEY SHOULD KNOW BETTER THEN... it just gives kids miss conceptions about snakes and in the keel back situation we all know it gets confused with the rough scale and thats all we need people picking up them and giving them a kiss because they THOUGHT THEY KNEW ....... education is the key I agree, BUT COMMONSENSE GOES ALOT FURTHER!and I just dont sit back looking at snakes on the net ,I am a catcher ,and I have never kissed a snake......dont put any snake near your face you only have one set of eyes and if you get tagged in the eye you are at a great risk of losing one ....................10 points for trying to get the word out but 2 points for there presentation:cry:

"KING BROWNS" IS A BAD NAME...:?..it gets too many people confused with what the snake is ......eastern browns are a true brown snake .......king browns is reffered to the mulga snake which isnt a brown snake at all ,its part of the black snake family ,and I really wish that the term "KING BROWN" was dropped.
