my centrel netted dragon hasnt shat in about a week how can i fix this any ideas would be greatly apreciated. he is 2 yeras old and he is 200 mm

I've read on this thread about bathing them in Luke warm water. I'm not sure if this will work so it's not rock solid advice

I've had my snake not go for a while once as well and got worried, done some research and found that during winter sometimes snakes will hold on for longer then usual, might be same. I also read about the warm baths. I ended up going with a warm bath to be on the safe side and the next day... Bam. I'm sure u can imagine

he is suppose to be fed tomorrow would it be a good idea do u think

I didn't stop feeding, but hopefully if you give it a warm bath it may not be a problem. I guess I'd be worried if I got to a third feeding and still nothin

Hard to say, think u might need someone one with more experience with lizards to give u a definate answer. I'd say try the warm bath and go from there. Might be worryin for no reason

Is he on sand? They can get impaction if they are eating their food off sand. Definitely do a warm bath and even rub his belly a little in the bath, should hopefully get things moving. Lizardlady on here is pretty up on all these things if you need extra help.

could he have injested his substrate?

things that work for impaction are extra fluids (get him to drink as much as you can), warm baths, exercise (like letting them swim in the warm bath) and heat.

good luck!!

hes been fed and had warm bath think he may of crapped but covered in sand not wuiet sure

Have heard crickets that are too large have been a cause as well.

Btw if that is a qld license number I'd be inclined to remove it, people could make sales and use your license number

I posted this on your other thread…

As indicated it sounds constipated. Usual cause is insufficient hydration.

You can very gently palpate the ventral surface in front of the vent to see if you can feel any hard lumps of faecal matter.

Get it to drink water if you can. Or use dropper. Up to 5mL a couple of times a day. This is better that administering oils at this stage.

The bath should be tepid i.e. just warm to the touch (approx. 40oC). Gently lift the tail up so that the vent is open and water can enter the cloaca and rectum where the faecal matter is. This will allow it to absorb moisture and soften so that the lizard can then pass it. I would look at 30 mins twice a day for a couple of days. Still no result after that I’d involve a vet.
