ok please dont flame me as i am posting this because i love and care about my Flo!!
last night while checkin my snakes we discovered our darwin python on eggs... totally unexpected as had no idea that the male in with her was anywhere near close to being capable of breeding, nor did we do absolutly anything to encourage breeding of these snakes, other than mistakingly/stupidly leaving them together.... Honestly might be naive of me, but from all my readings i truly believed that there was so much prep to having snakes breed in captivity, stupid me... so now we find her coiled around eggs.. not sure how many as not sure on whether it is smart idea to move her off clutch.... sadly not even sure when she laid them as i have been away and kids have been keepin an eye on things at home.... i am thinking i will just leave her be and let her take care of her clutch as she seems to be quite content and happy coiled around her eggs......

i am very much lookin for any and all advice as to all things i need to watch out for... not that we can see much as her eggs are very well covered... temps are all good and humidity fine however she isnt in a hide so not sure whether to put hide over top of her or just leave her be?? also she has no substrate under her from what we can see, seems to be just white melinime(spelling sorry) around the edge of her?? from what we seen of eggs all are a very healthy white in color and very much clumped together... omgosh what to do...
cheers
shelly

if you have an incubator id taker he off them but if not leave her be, id probably remove the male though. also she probably wont eat while on her eggs. and congrats! how old are the parents?

Have you tryd the search bar up the top for some info?! I think their was a thread a few weeks back with some info tho im not sure. Sorry Im not much help!!!

dont remove them unless u have an incubator which will improve ur hatchos well being if that makes sense. malemine is not the best for them as it doesnt hold the best humidity as other tanks but it will have to do. never spray the eggs with water they will mould and die. did u fatten up the female before winter cause she may need to be fed as she will lose alot of weight from this. also if u do remove the eggs make sure you do an entire cage clean or she will go nuts looking for them.

Let her do her thing and take the male out , Better start reading up on getting baby snakes to feed now... and congrats! It's not hard breeding snakes , but it can be a right paint looking after the hatches and getting them to feed etc...

But it's a lot of fun!

dont have an incubator so at this stage i think my best bet is to leave them be... as i have never ever done this before nor did i plan for it the only knowledge i have is what i can source through reading and researching on the internet.. the father is 2.5yrs old and mum is approx 5ish from memory, gosh will have to pull out herp book now.... thanks nagini for congrats...

and removed male straight away, that was the easy part lol

i wont remove the eggs at this stage, well not on my own accord will only do this if i can get someone out here who knows what they are doing.. Flo was offered food all through the winter months but was reluctant to eat alot of the time so sadly i couldnt of fattened her up if i was preparing to breed her, which i was under no circumstances trying to do...

have been on computer since last night googling, and reading over threads i can find on here, have to admit aussie pythons is by far the best place to source any type of information in re to anything reptilian...

omgosh i have allready done some reading on feeding hatchlings but was trying not to jump that far ahead of where we are at the moment... i really am in shock over seeing her on eggs..

my sisters boyfriend bred his snake (he has absolutly no idea about snakes) he didnt even worry about and incubator hardly done anything for them and 21 out of 23 hatched. ( i bet that wouldnt happen for me even if i done everything right) so good luck!!! hope all goes well.

hi snakerescue, thanks for well wishes... i feel extra bad cause i know how hard people work to breed, endless effort and countless time and monies etc.... i can only hope now with good advice and lots of research that i do what is right from now on..

Here is a pic taken just now

The eggs are looking a bit crushed or deflated. How long has the mother been laying on them?. Could be just from the mother snakes weight on the eggs or could be a bit of deflation Id ask around about that just to be sure.

Those eggs look perfectly fine.

Thanks all... Am sure the deflation ous from the mothers weight. The eggs dont look to be drying up.. Hard to check with mum coiled aground them.. Am going to catch her taking a break from them so I can get a better look at them.. Am reluctant to interfere to much as she seems to be quite happy doing what she is doing..
Cheers all and thanks so much..

Update we have babies!!

This morning awake to what seems to be 1 very healthy hatchin... Surprise, surprise up in the fake scrub are another 9 :)
Now the fun begins...
