Traineeship at SA Venom

Hey , my hubby Dave, just completed an Adult Apprenticeship in Butchery last November(2003). He is now 44yrs old. He used to be working in an Almond Orchard(bout 150-200acres), but had to get out of that sort of work because of his back. The tractor work used to really stuff his back up. So anyone can get an adult apprenticeship/traineeship, no matter what age. Don't know why SA venom want someone under 22yrs of age. Dave actually asked them for a job down there, but he had to be familiar with Venomous Snakes to be able to apply for the position hey? Cheers Cheryl

No worries i just thought with all the equal oportunities and discrimination laws that they would not be able to do that anymore mainly because the age they are asking for is normally paid adult wages

Traineeships pay a lot less for the 12 months than an adult wages. It's the same in the Hospitality Industry that I work in Mick

Yeah but dosent the government help out allowing for their assets tests and so forth
everyone i know that is doing them (adult apprenticeships ) and has a family on a sole income gets government assitance

I think so Mick. but apparently the job is open to people from out of SA as well, if they are prepared to relocate hey? Dave n I didn't get anything back from the Gov. as we don't have kids to support hey? Can't even get a Health Care Card cos we earn $30/mth too much.

I know how you feel and they wonder why people try to cheat them
we dont get it either strange that the money that you get from them goes down till you hit 50 000 then no loss till 75 000
I recon Sa would be a great place to live from the pics i have seen never been there though
But i have a house and a steady job so ....

Hey Mick, Dave and I between us don't even hit the $50 thou mark with our regular jobs hey? With the Rodent Rancher biz as a hobby biz, we are only allowed to have a $20 thou turnover per year. Work that out

we are the same somwhere under 50 depending on how many hours
but i work weekends for dad
and my wife works at coles from 3 till 6 then gets our 3 kids ready for school

3am till 6am?? Poor girl. that would be a bugga working those hours. hope she manages some shuteye in between then and the end of school hours mick.

Yep mornings i cant belive she does it i love her for it i am working 50 hours a week at work at the moment and sat and sun with dad at the moment i dont work with him all the time only when he gets the extra work

OMG, couldn't cope with that many hours in a reg job Mick. Dave is full time butcher, and I am a part time Gaming Manager/Bar Attendant/Waitress. I'm only doing 20hrs a week at the moment, and that is too many for me. Not enuf time to tend the Rodent Ranch, crix etc. Gonna cut back to 15hrs or less. As long as I can put $100/week in our spending/billpaying account, that is fine with us hey? need the time here to do all the work. Cheers Cheryl. PS Off to bed. Working at the Tavern at 10am. Just another thought guys. maybe the people that offer traineeships, well they think that under 22yr old people dont need as much money as the over 22yr old people? Now does that make sense or not????
