Hey guys need some help. Got my stimmie about a month ago. Its around 8 months. Was a well established feeder with the breeder was eating 2 pinkies a feed consistently. First week I got her home I let her settle in. She's in a click clack setup. Tried to feed didn't take it. Left her alone for another week. Tried again didn't take. Checked and re checked temps its 31-33 in her hide 23-26 in the cold end humidity 60%. Shes active at night been offering her food every week she has a good sniff but never strikes. Been about a month since she's eaten now according to the charts and don't wanna start scenting yet as she was established on pinkies before. I am defrosting the pinkies in hot water before i feed her they are nice and warm. Tried braining, leaving in tub overnight. Also she did have a bad shed the week I got her so that might of stressed her although she should be over it by now. So i know she's not coming up to a shed. Any ideas? I've heard about leaving her overnight in a smaller tub with pinkies brainer juice smeared everywhere. Just getting worried as she is my first snake don't have much experience. Could just be her getting used to the cold temps down here as it gets around 12 degrees at night time. Maybe its just the winter. Any ideas? Thx guys.

Diesel,my little spotted did the same thing ,was told by a breeder of them so he knows his thing ,he told me to put her in a small box ,I used a toilet roll ,I scrunched up paper placed in one end ,then put her in there with a pinkie and stuck the other end up with paper so she was contained..left her over night and she ate it (thanks Mr Knee;))...recently she wouldnt feed and she started to pull away ,I pissed her off with the pinkie and she bit it several times ,kept ******* her off with it then she eventually curled around it ..sometimes they need to be given that extra encouragement ..

ZOOJAS they are floor temps but the air temp in the hide is 32. Yeah i tried to annoy her a bit by tapping her gently on the head with the pinkie and tried stroking it along her mid body but no response. she just runs into her hide. Pokes her head out and keeps sniffing it. Might try the small box idea. Hopefully that'll work ill give her some time before try it.

We've dealt with a couple of difficult feeders here, mostly it depends upon feeding preference with ours, sometimes season, although being 8 months old I doubt that's the case with yours lol. One of mine is incredibly difficult to feed, annoying him never works, I kind of have to creep the food towards his face and then wait; if I'm too forthright he runs away or is disinterested, but if I do it right he'll approach the food ever so slowly, sniff for a while to make his mind up, then if he's hungry he'll very very gently take, even start eating while I'm holding onto the food. He's never struck as far as I know. We have a couple more who are similar: if the food is moved toward or even jiggled near them... instant disinterest. Maybe try different approaches? You never know... ;)

Ah nice idea nighthawk. Thanks for the input. Well i might try the different approach before i lock her up with one lol shes a very timid snake even when i walk into the room she hides most the time. Doesn't seem to scared when she's handling though. Havent had much of a chance to handle as shes not feeding well dont wanna overstress her. And yer the heating is 24/7

ok guys she just fed YAY so happy XD. She's normally so docile scared me when she struck and coiled happened so fast. I just had to keep tapping her on the body with it till she decided to smash it down thx for all your help guys.

Daniel , good to hear it ate for you , next time you feed try giving her a few pinkies .

see sometimes you have to make them pissed off now ;)

I've had similar problems with my 2-and-a-half year old children's python. When I came back from holidays he ate once or twice and then stopped. Does changing the pet shop that you buy mice from make a difference? Have tried scenting. I think it worked once. I will try some of those ideas

yeah gonna try giving her more than one next time just didnt wanna do anything to upset her this time
